If defense spending is so crucial to Canada's security, why are we spending public money scaling up private contractors who aren't even capable of giving us what we need now instead of creating crown corporations to do the same thing?
The only reason is to transfer public money to private companies.

Following Eurovision’s decision to allow Israel’s participation, Spanish public broadcaster RTVE has withdrawn from the contest. The announcement split the screen between Israel’s performance and scenes of bombardment and starving children in Gaza. #Spain #eurovision #genocide

Letter to the Guardian.
The protection of badgers has a long pedigree (Report, 29 August). Arthur Gore, known as "Boofy", the eighth Earl of Arran, was a fanatical defender of them. He was also a tireless campaigner for the rights of homosexuals. In 1967 he managed to push through a law in the Lords that decriminalised homosexuality but failed to pass a bill to outlaw the cruel hunting of badgers. When asked why he had not received enough support for his badger bill, he replied: "Not many badgers in the House of Lords." Tony Lywood Keswick, Cumbria

Found when sorting an old drive. I still, very occasionally, say 'not many badgers in the House of Lords' and this is why:

'It's embarrassing,' says Indigenous man who believes he was racially profiled at Winnipeg Home Depot | CBC News George Sinclair had just gotten into his vehicle and was ready to pull out of a Home Depot parking lot in Winnipeg this week when he was boxed in by three police cars, he says.

Look we just can't expect the Winnipeg police to see what is going on south of the border with ICE and border enforcement and not feel left out so... www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

New recycling tech recovers nearly pure nickel and cobalt from old EV batteries Researchers have developed an eco-friendly recycling tech that extracts 99 percent pure nickel and cobalt from waste batteries.

If anyone cares at all, EV battery recycling is now hitting 99% recovery for important metals

Please remind me again what the recycle rate for fossil fuels is

Canadian-built machines of war β€œAs we move from fighting the war to fighting the peace, I think we really have to see this as an opportunity for an economic renaissance" - Chrystia Freeland

My latest -- the bigger story about the Canadian-built armoured vehicle purchase by ICE is actually how the war abroad and the war at home are, primarily, economic wars.

Canada shouldn't join either if any countries who have killed more than 20000 children in the last 2 years are participating www.cbc.ca/news/enterta...

Sadeghi says this "genetic optimization" allows parents to minimize disease while maximizing traits they prefer. However, critics have drawn comparisons to a different term: "eugenics."
"[It's not eugenics] by any stretch, because it's fundamentally about empowering people with information that they can use to give their child the best start in life," he said. "And yes, if you want 2 inches taller for your child, 3 inches taller, right, if you want a couple IQ-point difference, absolutely, by all means, do that. But I'm saying, you're really asking me here, you're asking me, what is life about? That's what you're really getting at when you talk about height and IQ, right, they're abstractions of life."
