Saw them supporting The La's at Middlesbrough town Hall in '91. Got the cassette soon after and recently picked up a vinyl copy. Still a great LP, they should have been huge. So evocative of a time when Baggy ruled. 17 years old and the world at my flared feet!

I recall being irritated by it at the time and it's ubiquity invasive but, my word, Missy Elliott's Get Ur Freak On has just been on the wireless and it really is a minimalistic masterpiece isn't it? I (now) think so anyway. #HowDoYouDoFellowKids

The two halves analogy refers of course to the Orchestral/Rock split on "Don't Get Weird On Me Babe". Paul Buckmaster's arrangements remain some of my favourite ever. I'd pay a pretty penny to hear those songs in a live setting but by all accounts Mr.Cole is ambivalent about the record.

Oh! Don't get me wrong Andy, the GC soundtrack is one of, possibly my favourite ST's of all time. Roy Budd was a bonafide genius. It's just unusual that a comp leans on one artist and one piece of work so heavily. It's still a fantastic comp!
