My SIL lives in Perth & my wife & I have visited a couple of times. We love the sound of whatever it is that sounds like a lazy crow, “Caaaaawwwah”. Kookaburra calls, though, are an immediate callback to childhood watching cheesy flicks where that call was the stock sound to let you know “jungle”.

They let you onto their couch? I usually have to fight for a spot. 🤣

I think you’re a bit younger than me but you might want to get your measles checked while you’re at it. Recently had a titer test and found my immunity was non-existent. Had to get a booster. Apparently the vaxxes from the 70s can have that happen.

Kind of what I'd suspected for that camp. A surviving counselor, spoke of how they sang songs & prayed. When I was that age (back in the Stone Age) & in the Scouts, "camp" was, among other things, learning basic search, rescue, & lifesaving skills. You know, useful stuff.

PSA to fellow GenXer’s who got their MMR doses way back when. The early measles vaxx may not confer lasting, lifelong immunity! Had a physical & asked my doc about the recent outbreaks & she suggested a titer test as part of my bloodwork. Looks like I’m heading for a booster shot today! Vaxx up! 💉👍
