Leslie Bibb is the actor who plays β€œmy smokin’ hot wife, Carly,” in Talladega Nights. I am so glad I could offer this bit of information after the fact, to infinitesimally enhance this excellent show.

SPC SPAN CEAS β€” I love the mysterious elided name, the colors, the composition, the fact that one could drive past this scene and not give it a second thought, yet there is so much to behold.

An exquisite photo.

I concur, though, with the poster below who argues that this is not anarchic governance. It is "anarchy" in the sense of chaos, ignorance, disorganization (and cosplay, across the board). But the style of governance, if one can call it that, is fascistic and authoritarian, characterized by chaos.

Correct, about his knowing nothing. He has no grasp of what the branches of govt. are set up to do; he does not have an understanding of judicial precedent, of legislative process, of anything. (All aside from dementia.)
He also does not grasp economics at all; he has always operated as a con man.

It reminds me of a dresser/desk set I had as a little girl, which, even then, I thought was gaudyβ€” white wood with β€œfancy gold”
hardware, but at least it was functional. These are just tacky appliques stuck on the walls.

Hadn’t most of us who were paying attention to terrorist threats β€œflagged” Osama Bin Laden as of about 1993?

They each cherry-pick with abandon to support their ideas (often based on existing biases), but because they are writing for a β€œpopular” audience, the lack of credible science is somehow allowed to slide.

Now more than ever it seems imperative to establish journalistic protocols for verifying the identity of a source who’s using text (or email or anything but a face to face conversation, as voice audio can also be deep-faked).

Yes! This seems terrifically irresponsible of Tapper or any journalist, as it’s clear (from different phrasing, style, coherence) that on any given day a handful of different individuals send out posts from Trump’s account.

Ben Shapiro is trying so hard to look like Jack Posobiec (I can’t bring myself to dig up a photo of β€œPoso,” but trust me). I just noticed the similarity a couple days ago.
(Also, Shapiro is as bad a critic as he is a writer of fiction and screenplays, which is very, very bad.)

Also, people (men and women) seem to resent truth-speaking young women. The misogyny leveled against Greta Thunbergβ€” as if she should be silent, because she is young and femaleβ€” is mind-boggling.

I think this was the thought association (stay with me): this strategy is a perverse "Parent Trap," using the kids to entrap the parents. The 2000s remake of "Parent Trap" starred Lindsay Lohan, but that name is too on the nose, so they went with another Lohan remake, "Freaky Friday."

🚨🚨 My dear friend and fellow academic, the Palestinian American sociologist @emanabdelhadi.bsky.social has been taken by the Cook County Sheriff near Chicago. They have not mirandized her. Please signal boost. All eyes on Broadview for Eman and the community she was defending 🚨🚨

"People" may be shorthand for "checkout line fluff," but they actually do some good reporting, and their so-called human interest stories are often resonant. Thanks for pointing up its value in showing that the horrifying Chicago raid has broken through to mainstream, non-"news" coverage.

I think Yeats had a couple lines about this phenomenon.

I appreciate your sharing this! You are the Craig Mazin of 2025 (Ted Cruz's freshman roommate at Princeton, who had some choice derision to share). It's continually extra disheartening that these ghouls we thought would fade away into their private lives post college end up becoming public figures.

Thanks; that’s a great resource.
I suspect the regime wants the earnings information for bad-faith reasonsβ€”namely so they can further lobby for closure of academic departments they don’t like, by publicizing and mocking the poor earning potential of certain majors.

Amid the grotesquerie, there's this: "Schools are asked to post earnings after graduation for each academic program." This is gross, short-sighted utilitarianism.
Also: waiving tuition for hard-science majors (at schools with $), even though research grants have been gutted and PhD slots eliminated?

02.10.2025 04:12 β€” πŸ‘ 9    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I have been bewildered by this for years now -- "What do you mean, there's no way to intervene in the way an LLM works?" Now, we are stuck with this crop of "black box" bots being foisted on us from all directions, and an industry devoid of regulation, which is very scary.

02.10.2025 03:46 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You ask a good question. Machine learning should be able to quantify language differences and be programmed to reroute or stop the conversation. But that would require concern from the AI developers and a different approach to programming early on, to allow for intervention.

02.10.2025 03:42 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This should have been mandated from the get-go.
It is unconscionable that it is not; I suspect this was the intended course of [in]action. At many points earlier in the protracted AI "rollout," regulations could have been implemented, and they were distinctly not. Now we have to slosh in the mire.

All I can think is, "What a fucking loser." I mean, I hate Stephen Miller with every cell in my body, and I could use many more incisive phrasings to describe how vile, ghoulish, and execrable he is, but, just... what a fucking loser. "We are so much more hardcore." OK, loser!

Hear, hear. Every time I use Word or PPT, I am disturbed by some new fuckery that makes the functioning worse. Sometimes I have to wander around in the program to figure out how to do something that was formerly clear and self-explanatory; where did they hide it? Is it gone? Maddening.
