Really simple to setup with an unraid plugin and native initiator in windows. I'm expecting both better performance and no more having to manually mount vhd after every windows reboot

This is a really great take on the issues with social media algorithms, and important since social media is shaping the new generation.

My zfs backup plugin for unraid is coming along nicely! You can set up auto offsite backups to a budy on chosen schedule, and soon snapshot restore functionality works as well.
Encryption and safe permissions are enforced and you don't have to think about it 😎

I am generally against using LLMs for coding, but today it was very useful in converting a short script to a language that I am not super familiar with and has no intention of learning. I did of course review the generated code, and had to correct minor things, but overall it definetly saved me time

And even if I buy more licenses, I would need to have multiple bootable USB drives in my server and pass through some to vms. That feels sketchy..

Hey @unraid.net, I'm developing a plugin and want to test it on fresh unraid vm installs. What's the recommended way to do this without having to buy more licenses just for testing?

I've started hacking on an unraid plugin that aims to do just this. We'll see how it turns out

Making safe offsite backups of your data has always been a pain to setup and maintain. Using zfs and tailscale has opened up new possibilities in this space. Something just need to glues the pieces together into a user friendly gui..

It's also why as hardware gets faster, software gets slower.. It's a terrible trend. More developers should strive to understand how their program works under the hood

Also, doing mainly code reviews will not improve your skills like writing it yourself will. As of the current state of coding llms, your time is better spent writing the code yourself.

If you use an llm to write code for you, you need to spend a lot of time reviewing the generated code to make sure you understand it and that it is correct. For me, this takes away the joy of actually writing code.

I'm currently really liking the ZFS file system! Did a backup of 12 different revisions of a 268GiB dataset. On the destination disk, all of this data only takes up 157GiB thanks to dataset compression! 🀯

I just had a scenario where I knew parity would be valid as soon as the parity sync reached a certain point. So I just canceled the sync at that point, made a new disk config, check the "parity is already valid" box and bam! Saved 20 hours

Unraid makes managing a home server super easy, but the best part about it is that it doesn't limit you from doing things manually when it's needed
