right!! or even the chapter by chapter > novel compilation pipeline for specific plot/progression heavy stories could rly generate something big if we had the infrastructure for it i think

but i do think a crucial part is infrastructure/platform to guide and create those audiences in the first place, which is a much more tricky thing to craft imo

serialization is just such a great way to gather an audience that already cares prior to when you make the jump to asking for purchases of a full novel at a higher price point, as well as having the potential to development community around creative works

it seems like a format that is severely underused, esp given the known success in other spaces (i am thinking the chinese market and also how manga is serialized/compiled both) as well as the current ~moment shall we say of trad-pub reskinned fanfiction which is essentially this

i really wish the current publishing landscape (esp sff!) had more space for ongoing semi-pro serialized stories with potential for consolidating into novel form to enter the trad pub pipeline
