Movie 17of365: Machete (2010)

I needed something silly and fun, this is perfect. When Rodriguez & Tarantino went for retro grindhouse it was great fun, but Machete is Rodriguez perfecting it.

Movie 16of365: Nosferatu (2024)

Third time seeing it, this time I was able to pay more attention to the wonderful details like set and costume design. So many of the shots are just jaw dropping. Good shit.

Movie 15of365: Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022)

First time seeing it. Really does live up to the hype, it's a multiversal action drama comedy that was inspired by (and makes several references to) the Matrix. Gonna have to see it a few more times to glean more details.

Movie 14of365: The Last Unicorn (1982)

By Rankin/Bass, this is full of fun visuals and hippie music. Not all sparkles and rainbows either, some nice spooky stuff as well. Highly recommend. Featuring the 40-years-ago voices of Alan Arkin, Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury & Christopher Lee

Movie 13of365: Twisters (2024)

I probably would have enjoyed this more if it were in no way connected to Twister (1996). I think I needed a cameo from Helen Hunt or something. Reading about the failed Twister sequel that she attempted before this one got made I'm understanding why she wasn't in it

Movie 12of365: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: (2024)

My second time watching, I have fun with it but I agree with the consensus that BJ's ex was kind of wasted screen time if they weren't gonna go anywhere with that plot in the end. Will still enjoy it in future no doubt.

Movie 11of365: Save Yourselves! (2020)

What does it mean to be a 'modern man' in an alien apocalypse? A city couple try to unplug in the woods when it goes down. Characters teeter close to too annoying, but ultimately I liked it.

Movie 10of365: Madagascar (2005)

..it came out TWENTY YEARS AGO jesus fuck. Actually holds up pretty well. I remember I was babysitting a couple kids in England and they loved it. Will always make me think of them, and my time in blighty.

Movie 9of365: Encanto (2021)

A beautiful, sweet and fun movie. I imagine it'd be pretty great on shrooms too.

I've never been so drawn to repeatedly watch something with such a horrible, drab subject matter. So well done.

They did a lil tease on their socials, I was really hoping it was reunion and new album, alas, t'was just shows I cannot attend. But maybe it'll lead to the other things.

It's been 18 years since this came out? Jesus fuck. Still enjoyable. Some of the gags they wrote for this have really lasted in pop culture.

For the purposes of this self challenge, I'm including stand up specials as long as they're 70+ minutes long. I love PFT so much, I needed a pick-me-up, he delivered in a bowtie.
