20.01.2025 21:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Exactly, having grown up in Austria, this gives me chills and stomach cramps. I genuinely thought we learnt our lesson.

16.01.2025 17:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I fully agree, but it's not the technology per se that's to blame, it's the lack of accountability. I pointed to the Vienna example, just because it shows that it CAN be done, properly. There is a Uni right next to it and it's even a tourist attraction! The incinerator itself is not the villain!

29.12.2024 09:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yea, you've got a point there... It all needs to be policed effectively, and it doesn't appear that the environment agency has enough teeth or resource to enforce those....
29.12.2024 09:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Chapter two refers to the required directives. That's where I'd start. I'm no expert, my post was simply from lived experience. I'm a chemist by education (long ago!) and know that those technologies are pretty standard. There may be differences in permittable level etc so worth reading up details!
29.12.2024 09:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Of course it is, in fact it's the basic standard for building incinerators!
29.12.2024 09:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I have the same visceral opposition against them. But consider this. There is one incinerator in the centre of Vienna, built up area, creating heat for the city consistently voted as one of the most liveable ones in the world. vienna.impacthub.net/about-waste-...

From the FT the other day. I had no idea.
