It is a complete mystery to me, why the moderate-right, and center-left does not put democracy higher on their agenda. It is first and foremost the far-right's antidemocratic tendencies which are the greatest danger to a well-functioning Europe. Better democracy, pls.

That is overstating what the actual article says. What should be discussed is the quality of European democracies, and how to strengthen democracy should be the focus of the next survey. Thank you.

Which might sometimes make sense in an overall democratic process where different viewpoints collide and some kind of middle ground is reached. It is the drive to cancel democracy which is the threat.

This sums Russia up. And what US is becoming.

Well functioning, fact- & law-based institutions and a strong democratic culture based on accountability is what people come for. And is what makes a country succesful internally and externally. US no longer has any of these things.

It is a battle for impartial institutions and democracy. Things US and the Dark Right in Europe wants to destroy. Nationalism is not dangerous per se, only if it is nationalism that does not understand the immense benefit of healthy institutions and trust between citizens and the state.

They want to soften it a bit so not to damage the Dark Right in Europe, which they want to empower. Their goal is to smash European democracy and unity. Just like the zombie democracy they've created in the US.

If all imperialist where willing to put themselves on the line in that way, they wouldn't be that much of a problem, would they... And FYI I wrote nothing about any heroism. Will block if you keep misrepresenting.

US is a contagious zombie democracy no matter what this guy says. In Europe we must confront the dark right with their antidemocratic tendencies: undermining institutions, dumbing down the public discourse, openly lying the achieve their agenda. When freedom is gone they will not give it back.

Desværre for dem har et diktatur aldrig givet lavere priser, mindre korruption, eller klar besked om rettigheder for hverken nye eller gamle borgere. Vi skal nok klare os i Europa, så længe de antidemokratiske kræfter ikke får overtaget her. Men USA går i smadder. Trist.

Trump-backers, anti-democracy politicians and power-people bring destruction only to enrich themselves. They cannot be trusted and right now they are going for more power where ever they can across the western world.

That is the point. These people will escalate, escalate and escalate. They will cancel your democracy. Don't for a second believe anything else.

They will escalate, escalate and escalate. And they will end freedom and democracy in the US. It should be the central point of attack. They. will. end. democracy.

These guys are criminals doing criminal things to establish a forever-criminal regime. You should stop them or your children will never experience a free, democratic society. At least not in the US.

I am not overly optimistic. And given the development in US, perhaps instead focus on a European way that starts with genuine multidisciplinarity. One better able to work with the strengths of better developed welfare states.

Your administration is always moving the goal posts. They do not care about contradicting themselves. You cannot move on without reinstating accountability and stop accepting obvious lies. They will escalate. Again and again.

It makes sense, IMO, to some degree - although different mechanisms of learning always mixes. However, the nature af the people manipulating these mechanisms means a lot for the result. And here Trump and Putin are alike...

I think it was Bateson who suggested that CCCP mentality was formed by classical conditioning (automatic responses to e.g. cultural symbols), while US mentality was shaped by operant conditioning, that is rewards/punishments of the individual (e.g. monetary rewards for 'good' behavior.

Tricky to assume nation states have personalities. But going along, IMO Russia is further along the psychopathy spectrum. Or perhaps: I would expect Putin to rate higher on psychopathy than Trump.

They cannot allow accountability, it would swallow them up. Expect escalation.

It's mental economy. Just as Trump insinuating a pedophile cabal among his adversaries. Nobody would readily think of that unless it figured as a central part of their own lives. The downside is building a alternate reality based on lies which always threatens to come home to roost.
