The weekend forecast (Aug 9-10) has quite a few storm chance. Early Saturday, then dry most of the day. Storms again late Saturday then on and off Sunday. It'll be much cooler, though!

Storms form in NW Nebraska Fri afternoon in the yellow shaded area with hail possible. Those storms will move NE into South Dakota.

Storms will form in SW Nebraska around sunset Friday and spread east and NE overnight into early Saturday. Could impact #LNK around sunrise.

Saturday night into Sunday is the next best chance at some measurable rain over the next few days in southeast Nebraska (August 9-10, 2025).

Next, we get warmer again and dry for a longer stretch into mid-August.

HOT Friday, but we get back into the 80s for the weekend.

Lots of 90s in the Thursday forecast. I guess it IS still August, after all.

We'll try for the 90s the next few days. Early morning storms, too.

There is a level 1 "Marginal Risk" for severe storms.

Storms will move out of SD tonight and move east along the SD/NE line late Tuesday night. When it gets into northeast Nebraska, it dives south towards where MO, IA, and NE all meet. It would be in this area around sunrise.

Then we warm back up Wed and Thurs. Storm chances late Tuesday into Wednesday, then again Wednesday night.

A Severe T-storm Watch is in place for parts of western Nebraska through 10:00pm MDT, Monday, August 4, 2025.

Hail and damaging wind are the main concerns with storms that are able to form.

Strong to severe storms are expected to form in panhandle and parts of north central Nebraska after 5pm Monday and then push southeast as the evening progresses.

They will move into central Nebraska around sunset, then into south central Nebraska around midnight, starting to weaken at this time.

A Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of the panhandle into WY and CO. This watch is in place through 10pm MDT, Friday, August 1, 2025.

An AIR QUALITY ALERT is in place for much of the eastern half of Nebraska through Friday morning, August 1, 2025. This smoke is due in part to wildfires in Arizona as well as the Canadian wildfires.

Those sensitive to particle pollution should consider limiting time outdoors.

A Tsunami Watch is in place for the west coast. Arrival time is tonight around midnight, July 30, 2025.

Evacuating coastal regions if a warning is eventually issued is advised. If you have friends or family in this area, make sure they are made aware!

8.7M earthquake in eastern Russia triggered a tsunami, which may cause damage along the coastlines of Hawaii.

Each wave crest can last 5-15 minutes and continue for hours. Estimated arrival of the 1st wave is 717pm HST. 1st wave may not be the biggest.

There is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in north central and northeast Nebraska through 10:00pm.

There is a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the NW Panhandle through 12:00am MDT, July 30, 2025.

More watches are possible tonight as these storms eventually push east!

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in place for north central and northeast Nebraska through 10:00pm. This watch is for storms moving out of South Dakota moving southeast.

More watches are possible later on, so have a way to be alerted!

Storms form in the late afternoon in SW Nebraska, move into central Nebraska around sunset, and into eastern Nebraska closer to midnight. However, storms may try to form along a frontal boundary in eastern Nebraska in the early evening before the main batch of storms moves in overnight.

The Severe T-storm Watch has been expanded and now includes northeast Nebraska through 1:00am Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Most of the storm activity will be in South Dakota, but some of it may cross into the northern fringes of Nebraska. Hail and damaging wind will be the main concern.

SE Nebraska is right on the edge of an Excessive Rainfall Outlook through Friday into very early Saturday. The heaviest of rain will fall in the red shaded area. That does graze SE Nebraska.

There is a level 2 "Slight Risk" for severe storms down by Kansas City for storms expected Friday afternoon and evening. A couple of those storms may push into SE Nebraska this evening with some gusty wind and hail. A couple of severe storms possible in the panhandle this afternoon, as well.
