Those who say "I'm not ableist" yes you are. I have internalized ableism myself too. We were raised in a world that so much of our beliefs go back to ableism, patriarchy, racism, all of it.

It takes work to break from that, and it's a daily thing. You're never "cured" in this current age.

I really wish people could get this.

Disabled people usually cannot immigrate. Most countries with healthcare that could help us, say we are a "drain on economic resources" and have a limit of what you can cost the health system a year.

I've already gone over that cost in 1 month in the US.

This is a bullshit excuse. If they have A TRUE change of heart, they'll understand the anger the other side has for them. Because they'll know that what they did was wrong.

Just a reminder that if you tell a disabled person to move out of the US if they’re scared of living here, other countries don’t want us either. Countries will turn you away because you’re disabled. We’re seen as a burden and that’s so normalized that it’s okay to turn us away.

By this logic we can't call a Nazi a Nazi because they might change their ways and they won't understand the wrong they've done if people are mad at them? No. They voted against human rights and fight everyday for that choice as if it was the "right" one. Call them what they are.

People are assholes and will always take anything and use that to push disabled people down.
Does that mean we give up and just start insulting them at doctors offices? No. Language evolves. Understanding evolves. We must keep moving with it.

Please do not leave the *Accessibility* part out of DEIA. It's about anyone they can "other" and raise themselves off the backs of.

I do not have much for this, but did want to throw out there I have a lot of books that have been personally recommended to me by my history friends about fascism, the rise, the history, and the different iterations.

No. It's not. If you're interested in what happened the Dad Challenge Podcast on YouTube has a bunch of episodes and they actually tell the story and the shit that went down. This HBO doc was sugar coated excuses so other family vloggers don't feel bad.

Also, funny point: they showed this one person's video TWO DIFFERENT TIMES and that person has like 90 subscribers and only 500 video views. Out of the entire Internet you chose that video?

I had hoped they'd really make a message about family vlogging and the pressure that puts on your children who just want to have a childhood. This entire documentary was nothing other than excuses and defenses of anyone doing wrong. This is ridiculous and a waste of time and shame on HBO.

The friend of Myka that they briefly talked to has been found to do racist and horrible crap in the past. That seems like an awful idea? I thought that after they finally showed the point that the drama exploded they would then pivot to talk about how horrificly this child was treated.

Who the hell was Hannah other than a woman who is far too invested in family influencers lives? Why was she the "main focus" of people we spoke to when she had never met nor interacted with the people in question. They had family vloggers on there? Of course they're gonna defend their livelihood.

I just want to throw this out there: HBO's "An Update on our Family" about the Myka and James Stauffer situation from a few years back? It sucks. It's a waste of time. I got more info and commentary from the Dad Challenge Podcast in ONE VIDEO than 3 episodes of this churned out bullshit.

Saying that you hope Republicans "get what they voted for" is fine and good, but what about the disabled people and the trans folks getting fucked over while we wait for Republicans to learn something they'll never learn?
