I saw Frankenstein in 35mm at the Hollywood Theater here in Portland last weekend - it was so sincere and earnest and human and GORGEOUS, I couldn’t possibly recommend it enough. I’m a huge @realgdt.bsky.social film fan but this is easily my favourite ♥️

It's about time Strange Days finally begins getting the retrospective love and respect it deserves. To me, it's the best pre-Matrix cyberpunk film other than Blade Runner and Robocop, and still better than most cyberpunk films made since.

This also contributes to how games are prioritized for coverage. Balatro is an excellent game but bc there’s nothing to spoil you can really get into how and why the mechanics work at a deeper level. Some pieces about Expedition 33 won’t even mention the characters in your party due to “spoilers”!

My games crit $0.02 is that it’s weird how averse many are to “spoiling” games in their work. Imagine trying to discuss Get Out or The Thing without talking about how they end? When folks try to protect the experience of games as a product it limits how deep you can discuss them as art
