Masking!
The shuttlecraft had a two tone hull colour.
In the upcoming long form build video (Feb 5 on YouTube) I discuss deviating from the instructions because I only wanted to mask the hull for painting once.

Lacking Trek aesthetic aside, it is a properly structured movie.
The main character has a want and a need.
Georgiou has a lesson to learn, and learns it. Achieving a catharsis.
And it’s not Gaurdians or Oceans 11. It’s Suicide Squad you hack writers.
And, once again, I hate that I’ll be defending Kurtzman and Co…because frak those guys and their (mostly) terrible ideas/writing.
I planned to skip Section 31. Then all the bad pre release reviews universally panned it. So I had to watch it.
I’m also getting sick of ‘it’s not Star Trek’ from toxic fandom.
Like it or not it’s up to the IP Holders to decide what Star Trek is.
As the individual, you can decide what it means to you and IF the new directions fit your definition.
But get this idea of your ownership out of the conversation
I don’t know what form my counter review will take, article or video.
But I do know that, despite my feelings on ‘nu trek’, I very much dislike unfair/harsh reviews when they aren’t warranted.
Section 31 isn’t without issues, but ‘not having something to say’ isn’t one of them.
But, their two reviews of Section 31, tells me that their article writers don’t actually understand movies.
Or, at the very least, let their feelings on Star Trek cloud their ability to see properly structured narratives.
@trekcore.com has put me in a position I never thought I’d be in…Defending a product from the Kurtzman era of Star Trek.
I have been, privately, critical of most of what’s been created. It’s boring, uninspired, and the characters successes are undeserved.
He can piss off with this 51st state BS.

With February fast approaching I wanted to start posting some of the Galileo build photos ahead of the video.
turns out I didn’t take as many pics as I thought, but there’s enough to demonstrate most of the steps.

Well, I guess I created masks for the MPC TIE Advanced.
I hadn’t planned to. But I started masking with yellow tape then remembered I have a vinyl cutter!
Window masks for the 1/1400 Enterprise D are ready.
The neck is always going to be a problem area, because they’re so small. The biggest issue is clean crisp lines. But, they did hold up to 10 layers of paint/primer without bleed.
Still better than paint & scrape! (That’s the consensus anyway)
