"For the rest of you," Mr. Ito continued, "we will be dealing with Fiend Bats. I'm sure they're old hat for some of you, but to be clear: They like to swarm, they are attracted to motion and body heat, and they have a paralytic venom. It's weak, but enough to put you at risk if you get bitten more than three times. I have the healing spells needed to negate them, but the point of training today is to avoid getting bitten in the first place. If you get to three bites, you're out. Clear enough?" Everyone chorused affirmation, despite several looking pale at the idea. Seina just groaned a little. "I hate fighting Fiend Bats. Kyoka, can I use my special trick?" Kyoka rolled her eyes. "That's wasted on this, and you know it. Don't be lazy." It was playful teasing. Himari blinked a few times for it. "Special trick?" Seina blushed. "O-oh, sorry, I... ugh, my bad, Himari. Uh... Kyoka helped me learn a special technique with my magic, but it's kinda my trump card, too. I'm supposed to keep it quiet."

10/25 - If a scene is focused on two characters being adorable, it is pure dopamine for me. I love that kind of fluff. I deliberately thread important characters beats through them so they can't be clipped from the story. Those scenes always flow for me.

She groaned as Hasava helped her slump into the seat. She rubbed her chest slowly just from the stress. A fresh yelp was cut off in her throat when Hasava just drove her hand under Kiseki's own, pressing to the human woman's sternum while the demon focused, clearly attempting to analyze something. Kiseki's heart was pounding... because Hasava was touching her heart and embracing her even as she sat. "Your blood pressure is extremely high, Lady Himura. Perhaps I should bring you to the hospital?" Hasava asked, easing back only enough to lift her hand and feel Kiseki for a fever. Of course, her head was hot. She was blushing like a lobster. "Perhaps a viral infection," Hasava muttered. Kiseki screeched in horrified embarrassment, and just grabbed Hasava's shoulders. This successfully startled Hasava to wide-eyed blinking. "W-wait, please. Stop. I'm not sick," Kiseki forced out between pants from her surge of panic. "...You seem very sick," Hasava had to persist gently, sincerely worried as much as incredulous. Kiseki groaned into a whimper, and buried her face in her hands. "I can't do anything right!"

This was going to be so awkward. Masuyo was dismal, but had no better options. It was literally the only place she knew for sure Haji would be after work hours, for enough time to actually give her a chance to get Kyoka and find him after. There was a hotel with a bar not far from their work building, and a group of employees, including Haji, were going to meet there after work for drinks. So, Masuyo had to crash their drinking part with her six-year-old daughter to try to lift an angry salary-man's curse. If she wasn't sincerely worried about someone being gravely injured or dying, she would've backed off.

10/24 - Mostly emotional catharsis moments and ultimate badass moments. I love both too much not to have them. Even my pure-romance plots have ultimate badass moments. My action-focused stories have emotional drama at their cores, with pay-offs in dialogue.

It's just you're... really confident and stuff. I figured you had a whole circle of friends." Kyoka's smile faintly returned. "Most people consider me pretty creepy, Seina. I certainly love it XD I love writing for OP characters, but it's because I like the emotional drama between people, too, so the power is usually not the point of the story, and it's often more about personal maturation, with gimmicky power-based fun as fluff around it.
