23.02.2026 19:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0But my very outdated pop references are going downtown, where all the lights are bright.
23.02.2026 17:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Your outdated pop references will make the walls come tumbling down; when they do I'll be right behind you.
23.02.2026 17:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was all right up to 1200, but struggled after that. I got the gist of 1100, but missed a lot of nuance. 1000 was more or less beyond me. ( I studied Chaucer in the original and know a few words of Old English). How far can you get?
22.02.2026 15:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Don't know that one. Sounds like a football song.

16.02.2026 19:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Could never see what she meant about anything, come to think of it ...

16.02.2026 18:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I confess that at that age I didn't really understand it, I just liked the solos in Comfortably Numb. These days I understand it, but realise what a twat Waters is. Dave's bits are still good, though.

11.02.2026 19:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Left Brussels (from Paris) at 1725, apparently, 10 late. Maybe useful next time?
11.02.2026 19:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My grandfather signed up under age, but luckily for him his father the Sergeant-major was home on leave, and marched him back to the recruiting office and unenlisted him.

The washing machine has arrived and is now doing its stuff. It wasn't very exciting, but it meant getting up early on a Sunday morning. I have a fence that blew down some years ago. I've never bothered to replace it (it only separated the drive from the garden). Next plan is a new bath and shower.
08.02.2026 13:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This month (and this month only) I get my full time salary *and* my state pension. I was wondering what to spend it on. The answer, it turns out, is a new washing machine.

06.02.2026 14:57 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's introduced me to a lot of interesting music. I intend to download it to the phone and play it on train journeys, which I will be doing a lot more of when I semi retire in March.
29.01.2026 21:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think that was the first song I ever knew all the words to. I still do, and the song is on my Trains playlist, right between blink-182 and Hendrix π
