Yeah, I love up in the zone for fastballs, but for them to be effective up there, you really need good velo, good vert, and a good attack angle (preferably at least the first two) and Morton has none of that. Combine that with the lack of control and it's not effective at all

Kevin Gausman threw his splitter 25 times today and got *one* whiff. In his last start he threw the splitter 34 times and got two whiffs. I'd be really nervous to start him in fantasy right now

Another solid start from Tylor Megill where he was able to locate his new slider pretty well and paired it with some good sinkers and high fastballs. Kinda digging what I'm seeing so far

Zach Eflin used his sweeper more than his curve today and it worked great (43.8% CSW). Wonder if this is something he’s gonna keep doing all year

Obviously the move is just outfield depth, but it's worth noting that Ramón Laureano did get progressively better at the plate over the year last year (especially from a power perspective) and he had a .305/.343/.526 line against lefties, so ya know why not🤷

If the Orioles acquire Castillo, that'd be a pretty decent rotation of Castillo/Eflin/Rodriguez/Morton/Sugano (or Kremer?), but I think it's also important to be aware of Castillo's flaws from last year and why there are definitely some things worth being concerned about

All that said, Castillo is still very good—the SL is still killer with a 35.2% CSW, 34.8% chase rate, and .260 wOBA against. And while the FB & CH took steps back, they still work well

I think the Castillo of 2024 is the Castillo we should expect in 2025 and not a return to form

I'm not saying the FB is a bad pitch now (it's still got great horizontal movement), but it took a step back and it worries me we're seeing Castillo on the downturn rather than staying at his peak.

CH also took a step back—21.5% CSW, 38.1% ICR, .368 wOBA are career-worsts
