Iâll be giving an intensive course on queer studies at Kobe University from January 21 to 23. Iâm really looking forward to it, and Iâll do my best to take care of my not-so-strong voice so it lasts through the sessions.

2nd Public Research Meeting: âMedia Literacy to Resist Transphobia and Disinformationâ
Date & Time: Tuesday, December 2, 2025, 15:10â16:50
Audience: General public, students, faculty, and staff
Venue: Kwansei Gakuin University, Central Auditorium
Sign language interpretation available.

Contact: Human Rights Education Research Office
Overview:
In recent years, topics related to transgender people have frequently appeared on social media, video platforms, and in the news. However, many of these include misinformation, stereotypes, or even content intended to incite discrimination. How can we avoid being misled and access accurate information?
We will welcome two representatives from T-Net, a network sharing reliable information about transgender issues, to discuss media literacy as a tool to resist disinformation and transphobia.
Speakers:
⢠Aki Nomiya â Active since 1998 as a core member of transgender self-help and support groups. Served as an organizer of the Tokyo Lesbian & Gay Parade and as a board member of Tokyo Pride. Currently teaches part-time university courses on gender and sexuality.
⢠Kanata Kimoto â YouTuber and video creator. Runs the channel Kanataimu. A transgender man who shares stories on LGBTQ+ topics, life with his deaf parents, and everyday moments âto inspire someone, somehow.â
About T-Net:
T-Net is a volunteer network launched in August 2024 by transgender individuals and allies committed to sharing accurate and inclusive information about transgender issues.
Weâre hosting an event at Kwansei Gakuin University on December 2: âMedia Literacy to Resist Transphobia and Disinformation.â
Weâll be joined by two representatives from T-Net!
The event will be in person only, free of charge, and no registration is required â all are welcome to join!

Today I took my seminar students to Pride Center Osaka. Itâs such an important space supporting LGBTQ+ communities, and they even welcomed our group of 20+ students. We heard a lot about how they create a safe and welcoming environment, offer support, and run the center. We all learned so much!

the official booklet of âBlueboy caseâ
The dessert from the meetup. I love meetups that have dessert.
I went to see the movie âThe Blue Boy Caseâ in Umeda today. It was tough to watch because it depicted many forms of discriminatory language and violence against trans people, but Iâm glad I watched it.
Afterward, I joined an X-gender meetup and had a peaceful, enjoyable time.

The words âTransgender Awareness Weekâ appear on top of a purple background. A graphic of a fern appears on top of a rounded shape in the top right corner and the bottom left corner.
The words âQuinn, they/them, first openly transgender person to compete at the Olympicsâ appear on top of a purple background. Next to a photo of Quinn kicking a soccer ball is a quote from them that reads âMostly, I feel aware of the realities. Trans girls being banned from sports. Trans women facing discrimination and bias while trying to pursue their Olympic dreams. The fight isn't close to over... and I'll celebrate when we're all here."
The words âMiss Major Griffin-Gracy, she/her, transgender activistâ appear on top of a pink background. Next to a photo of Miss Major smiling with her hands on her hips is a quote from her that reads ââSo, now we got to prepare ourselves to fight for our lives. We must hold on to our beliefs, hold on to our wishes, and our wants and desires.â
The words âLeo Aquino, he/him/they/them, financial coach and journalistâ appear on top of a purple background. Next to a photo of them smiling is a quote from him that reads âWe are acknowledging the oppressive systems at play while making educated financial decisions. We are listening to traditional financial advice while contextualizing it.â
Itâs Transgender Awareness Week! Weâre highlighting trans folks who are sharing their brilliance, supporting community, and excelling in their fields. They are making an impact each day by living authentically and stepping into their power - real people a making real impact; we love to see us shine!
