Sad to hear about the passing of the Michelangelo of Movie posters, RENATO CASARO. The Man painted so many iconic posters, specially in the 70s/80s: CONAN, TERMINATOR, DUNE, TOTAL RECALL, DANCE WITH THE WOLVES, BLOW OUT, FLASH GORDON, RAMBO, NEVER-ENDING STORY, and the list goes on and on. 1/2

He has to keep telling himself he's part of the good guys otherwise the acknowledgement of being the modern day Gestapo might cause him to harm himself. If he had a soul that is.

Thanks to the round 1 foul and Narvaez being penalized for not making his kick quota in 2 rounds, we some of the weirdest scores. Bob Thurman gets through an early knockdown to brutalize a very game and extremely tough Emilio Narvaez to win.

Bob Thurman's spinning back kick. Thurman reportedly had 2 coaches, his old boxing coach and another coach just for kicks.

"Very knowledgeable karate fans here in Minneapolis." Just one of those sentences that if I weren't watching a kickboxing match from the early 80's would feel like something you'd say while having a stroke.

Just as the final round is about to begin one of the announcers says that he feels that Narvaez is gonna lose this fight. Truly top notch analysis.

The announcer says "...comes back with a spinning kick!" But being a combat sports fan of a certain age, my brain just hears it as "...comes back with some spinning shit."

Emilio Narvaez gets up from his knockdown and tries blitz Bob with spinning kicks and hard punches. It does not work.

I can't wait to for him to sell and we'll live in the world's largest Hard-Rock Hotel and Casino.

@lucasabdr.bsky.social said that Bob Thurman would have probably transitioned super well to the K-1/Dutch kickboxing rules. Man loved walking forward, throwing in combination and hitting to the body.

Folks, the Thurman Special! Bob Thurman would often block opponents heads who had bent over, but not grab as clinching is against the rules, or get his opponent slipping punches against the ropes. Then BANG! A totally legal front kick to the face!

Bob Thurman was a boxer before making his transition into kickboxing, so I'll cut him some slack on his bad spinning backfist. He does have a solid spinning back kick. His best kick is the front snap kick to the body. Bob uses is like a teep to push opponents into the ropes.

Narvaez drops his hand and tries to goad Bob into falling for a bit of the rope a dope. Bob Thurman's Midwestern brain cannot comprehend that a man would simply not throw back at him and demands that Narvaez quit fucking around and fight him!
