I've been tasked with enhancing our statistics GCSE. However my pedagogical knowledge for it is a bit weaker.
Has anyone got good sources for reading that will help?

Year 8 looked at Square numbers and used them to problem solve sums.

First lesson with my new SEN Y7 group. I and they loved talking about what numbers look like and how we can see them in groups. Even got to numicon and 1 more and 1 less.
1 kid even told me they learned something new. Love a teacher win!

Phew! First year teaching stats in a year and 100% 7+! Now to get my 2 year students to the same level 💪

And my 4th year completed... stats suggest I should quit this time next year 😁. I've taught stats and RS for the first time, been given new challenges to keep me entertained. Now time to pretend to enjoy the time off as all structure from my life ends.

Excellent day at #mathsconf38. Lots of new ideas that I now wouldn't mind adapting and seeing in action! Looking forward to London (might treat myself to a weekend away!)

Am looking for some Statistics comprehension extracts to use with my 2-year stats group.

I want to create a focus on literacy to prepare them better ahead of GCSEs. Any pointers?

I think trig and ratio tables is brilliant. The confusion around if they need to x or ÷ seemed massively reduced.

Geoboards today with my SEN year 7 group. Make and sketch, pentagons, hexagons and quadrilaterals. After exploring squares and rectangles.

Following on from #mathsconf37, I used cuessinare rods to model why multiplying fractions works. This is a couple of my students recordings of my modelling!

Today I teach one of my favourite lessons - what is a half? It's a shame I have to wait until lesson 5

First Ofsted inspection complete! Section 5 - and got observed teaching SEN year 7. They smashed substitution!

My win of last week was being told by a parent/child that I am the reason they come to school, enjoy maths and finally they can achieve more than they ever did before. The fact I nearly cried on parents evening because of this. This is why I do the job 💗💗

This is exactly what we run at our school. We offer 2 year stats also. I think if you can offer a guarantee that you can provide a curriculum that will get 7+ for all - it'll look good. We offer this in an option block alongside so has dedicated time.

Local schools inset day - it was nice to talk diagnostic questions and how to embed them to local departments... Now to think of my next general CPD one #cpd #maths
