Generational trauma at its finest with the added benefit of being rooted in real-life events.
Zac Efron deserves credit for showing what he can do with great direction.
4.0/5
I need to know what Zac's steroid budget was for this movie.

The Iron Claw
Watching the Jon Oliver segment on Bari Weiss.
The thing that continuously went through my mind watching this?
"Tokens get spent"
Seriously, Dr. Strangelove is a much better movie on the same topic, and a dark comedy on top of it all.
26.10.2025 04:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0"A House of Dynamite" is what I expect from someone that phones it in because the paycheck is too good.
It throws away whatever was built up in the first 30 minutes for no rhyme or reason, only to rehash it poorly over and over again.
"The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty" this ain't.

Tonight's film:
A House of Dynamite
(I know I owe a review on "Ex Machina")
Except from article about Sanae Takaiichi from the NY Times. Text โShe wants to make Japan strong and prosperous for the people of Japan and for the world,โ said Yoshiko Sakurai, a prominent journalist and activist who has supported Ms. Takaichi. โShe is open to the outside world. But she also understands that we have to be really good Japanese. We have to know our own culture, traditions, philosophy and history.โ
Sanae Takaichi resists acknowledging Japan's wartime atrocities.
She denies coercion used against Korean comfort women and campaigned to remove references in school books about wartime sexual slavery
I guarantee she'll never acknowledge Unit 731.
History requires an acknowledgement of the truth.
NY Times article on Sanae Takaichi titled: Japan Has a New Leader, and She's a Heavy Metal Drummer
Please stop trying to soften up what is at BEST, damaging ultra conservative figures.
This is not unbiased.
Tonight's movie
Ex Machina
Even though Iris being a robot was ruined for me before seeing this, it's a very entertaining look at questions around power dynamics, autonomy, gender roles and what makes for a sentient being.
Although seeing Jack Quaid as something other than happy-go-lucky takes getting used to.

"Companion"
Except from New York Times article about Sora 2: Sora has restrictions on some sexual and copyrighted content. You can make a video with the characters of the television show โSouth Park,โ for instance, but not Batman or Superman figures. Rights holders must opt out of their workโs being used in Sora through a copyright disputes form on a case-by-case basis. Public figures may choose to grant permission for Sora to use their likenesses.
"We're going to steal, and you have to try and stop us"
Crazy that it still surprises me that under capitalism the default is to break the law.
Sometimes all the elements are there but it just doesn't come together in the way one expects.
Jessica Chastain delivering a screenplay and directed by Aaron Sorkin should be a slam dunk, and yet, it lacks the punch that so much of Sorkin's dialog usually has.
2.5/5
Random Kevin Costner
Also, love that u can immediately see the impact of Sorkins writing/direction.

He's lying.

Cyclone is a very cool character and seeing Sammo move is always a delight.
Unfortunately an incredulous story, horrible editing around the fight scenes and "spirit power" weigh this film down immeasurably.

Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In
What am I watching tonight people?
I could start the 28 days franchise.
Eddington
Victoria
Hot Milk
Molly's Game
Banshees of Insherin
Companion (I'm leaning towards this)
The Order
Twilight if the Warriors: Walled In (maybe this one too)
So many more ..
We're agreed that Peacemaker is just one massive trauma dump, right?
27.09.2025 01:25 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Wes Anderson knows how to craft an absurdist story with heart and make it look beautiful on screen.
Despite Benicio and the rest of the cast's brilliance, it gets slightly repetitive towards the end.
