Even if you could brutally force your way thru conflicts towards a single org -- whether the DSA or one tankie cult to rule them all or some platformist nonsense -- that would be a catastrophe of centralization. You'd lose resiliency, dynamicism, and the diversity of knowledge.

This doesn't mean that every single split or tension is good, but healthy movements allow for such, make it part of their engine.

Meanwhile tankies sit in isolated People's Worker's Solidarity Party (Traditional, 4th) cults of five people and scheme to take over liberal orgs, accomplishing nothing.

centralization is vulnerable postrevolution too: how ineffective the hyper-centralized Red Army was in the first month of Barbarossa (despite having newly manufactured weaponry and very competent, meritocratically promoted generals with 20y experience). see Kirponos's success by ignoring Stalin.

another thing i'm thinking is the "trauma-processing" argument is applicable in some cases, but i don't think it's the only valid reason for say non-con work to exist. the issue, like you said, is what is the vantage point of the creator, and the vantage point of the person consuming it

I fucking revile some voices included, but any honest attempt at a comprehensive library representative of the whole movement requires toleration, so @ ing me about how X is problematic probably won't prompt a removal. But there ARE of course boundaries, eg no Ted K, ITS, national-anarchists, etc

The difference is of course that nazis don't nonstop crank out race war fanfic anywhere near the speed that folks nonstop crank out "what if all women were brutally enslaved as sub-objects in a maximally misogynistic world" porn. And the erotic dimension gives it additional psychological oomph.

I firmly believe that the most effective propagandizing that fascists do these days is all in porn. Ubiquitous enough that any kid on 4chan or whatever will encounter it repeatedly, but marginalized beyond the scope of respectable media criticism or attention so no one actually talks about it.

Also weird to frame Gor as obviously harmless when there's piles of critiques from within Gor consumers on how the subculture propagated some of the earliest pernicious dynamics within bdsm/kink spaces re permanent contracts, etc.

remember when Yudkowsky wrote a post about (after going to some startup/tech/investor/whatever normie networking party), how rich people are actually all literally "shining" or "glowing", and maybe deserve their success more than he assumed off survivor bias? (i laugh whenever I remember)

Peter Singer isn't that public intellectual who wrote essays about fucking animals being moral, right? (might be misremembering)

@feralmeme.bsky.social:

You haven't seen it because in real life, from real people, & in contemporary leftist literature, it's not real. There are a few bot accounts engagement farming. What Gillis isn't telling you is that he's a type of anarchist that doesn't identify with the left, & so is constantly slandering leftists

@/FeralMeme: "if you SLANDER leftists, then you're a WRECKER and ZIONIST."

the Nakbaist genocidaires were majority leftist, and the USSR which sold them guns past embargo was the strongest leftist state. also antisemitism is (very strongly) positively correlated with islamophobia.

@/JeanGreige is literally bragging about how being a "proud tankie" who was once "an anarchist that read all of Chomsky", while @/caquitadepato is whining about how the word "tankie" is meaningless / a slur / unfair / whatever.

Not to mention he joined WikiLeaks and Berlin Group 31 in pushing false flag conspiracies about Assad's use of chemical weapons

And of course this is very silly because it only goes to show how Chomsky is not reflective of anarchists and the sort of person who loves Chomsky is very likely to become a tankie. But there is a sense in which Chomsky represents, while not anarchists, the mainline left of the 90s. And it SUCKED.

This Was Fairly Trivial: A CEO’s Assassination and its Aftermath – Destroy What Destroys You

I wrote a lot about this same dynamic in the search for the person who shot UnitedHealthcare’s CEO in 2024 in my essay This Was Fairly Trivial. The cops did a LOT of bragging about the scope of FRT but were ultimately dependent on civilian collaboration. butchanarchy.noblogs.org/post/2025/03...

@NullStaticVoid: FYI, Anarchists have been talking about a decentralized internet since before there was an internet. was at a conference in 1989 where
they made a fascinating presentation on building a peer to peer network that did not fall under control of the baby Bells. (this was only a few years after the AT&T breakup)

do you know which 1989 conference / anarchist P2P group this comment is referring to?

that alone doesn't make him a friend of Epstein, but (like Stallman), makes it let's surprising in hindsight that he defend him, at the very least.

"Deranged traitors" for posting on a blog details about local nazis.

Check out their blog and remember the importance of security culture, because this absurd violation of free speech is part of a nationwide effort to prosecute anarchists for doing basic activist work: screwstonafc.noblogs.org

And we don’t need to. We don’t need to be popular. We absolutely don’t need to appeal to men and we have no dependence on their acquiescence to engage in our projects. Sabotage is an insurgent activity that ultimately requires very few participants to have lasting impact.

It’s really freeing to me. It makes staring down horrible odds more bearable (if only bc that asymmetry is taken for granted). When I consider and reconsider my poltical positions and theories, whether my conclusion will have “good optics” doesn’t distract from my central concern with integrity.

Instead of defining success by conversion, by numbers, or media representation, success in my insurrectionary anarchist feminism is defined by my values, my relationships, my actions, my capacity, and how they all might be leveraged to undermine regime and expand agency for those on the margins.

I am, frankly, extremely uninterested in any ideology that sees large-scale conversion as a necessary condition for its projects. For both anarchism and feminism, such a focus has shown to be doomed to extreme burnout, failure, and disillusionment, or else extreme co-operation.

Insurrectionary feminist anarchism is such a secure home for me in a way mass movement focused anarchism never could be because it starts with acceptance that the most crucial conflicts are and will remain profoundly asymmetric, then challenges one to develop a principled response from that point.

I've seen and heard statements each to the effect of "we should look above the victims and at the politicking going on, especially at Bannon". Which in reifying Bannon's political project above the patriarchal violence, seen as 'bourgeois degeneracy', fails to recognize the continuity between them.

Anyway, security culture and diversity of tactics are good, snitching with cameras is bad. Online celebrities are a risk. Also radicals sometimes over-respond by being nuclear hostile to all normies and believing messaging and public perception are always totally irrelevant.

shitlib: "security culture is when you never tweet, share zines, write books, interview with anarchist podcasts, leave your home. and you tweet, checkmate anarkiddie!" (quoth some USA-CA flagfucker)
