Right, the answer isn't to abandon the party to these weasels.

The answer is to flood the party with people who will take it over and transform it.

"The Appeasement Eight gave Republicans bipartisan cover, and established another point of leverage Trump has over Congressional Dems...in a rapidly backsliding democracy, harm is happening no matter what. Therefore, preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move."

Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You've changed the story from "GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who's destroying his party" to "Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump's strength to take a stand and protect Americans"

If you didn't want to have to choose between health insurance, airports functioning, food stamps, etc you should not have allowed a psychopath to be president.
Don't believe there is some magical good answer when the options are eating sheep s**t or dog s**t.
That is delusional.

This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Imagine if Democrats relentlessly hammered him in these moments instead of assuming nothing will ever stick to him. Imagine if we demanded that Republicans answer why the President is throwing Gatsby parties and calling football plays instead of negotiating. Nah, we should definitely fold instead.

So, listen, call Schumer’s office no matter where you live, no matter if you’re registered to vote. Leave a voicemail that says if Senate Dems cave without an ACA premiums fix, you will never vote for or donate to another Senate Democrat as long as he is Leader

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Watch: One of those White male Democrats is going to propose a $25,000 tax credit for first time home buyers and getting Medicare/Medicaid to help with in-home care costs and everyone will eat it up! And Bernie will run to the mic claiming Kamala Harris lost because she didn't have ideas like this!

Democrats ran a variety of candidates in 2025, who tailored campaigns to their constituentsβ€”all anti-Trump, but offering different economic specifics based on their locales.

It was a big tent approach and did well with voters everywhere. Presenting that as infighting is an effort to generate drama.

I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.

Every day my phone buzzes. It is a neighborhood group: four people were kidnapped at the corner drugstore. A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again.

An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next.

Understand what it is to pray in Chicago.

Astonishing how hard this administration is working to keep people hungry.
It's clear they are trying maximize public suffering, in hopes of getting people to blame Dems for that suffering. But it's transparently the White House working overtime to keep the suffering going!

This NYT framing is ludicrously overstated. Sure, there are primaries. But if anything, the results showed a lot of Dems that there's a way to unify the factions around anti-Trump and affordability politics (as I try to argue in the piece/thread below).

Trump Throws Decadent Opera and Truffles Rager at Mar-a-Lago The president’s ragers show no sign of slowing down even amid the government shutdown.

The Founders Would Abhor Trump’s Domestic Deployments And the notion that courts can’t review his National Guard decisions is baseless.

Of course a plain reading of the Constitution and precedent says Trump can't use the military as domestic law enforcement. But the right isn't into plain readings of the Constitution these days. ICYMI Philip Allen Lacovara:

Conservative livestreamer sued over blast of pepper spray at ICE protest in Portland The lawsuit seeks $10,000 in damages from Chelly Bouferrache.

After lots of well-guided speculation, we now have proof that far-right propagandists in Portland have been directly coordinatingβ€”through at least text messageβ€”with ICE agents.

In this case, Chelly got permission from a "Travis D." inside to stand on a half-wall off limits to protesters.
