- Reps and Senators need to behave as though they're in a classroom. No heckling.
- Sanctions need to be introduced for mistruths and misinformation and disinformation being spoken and recorded in Hansard. Statements need to have a basis in truth.
- Conflicts of interest need to be handled

Listening to Parliament today and I have a few suggestions for #auspol:
- Dorothy Dixers need to be moved to an email/newsletter that forms part of the parliamentary record. Let's not waste everyone's time.
- Similarly, the "statements" or speeches of special interests could be an email.

I will never understand how both Libs and Labour are supporting a stadium but we have a horribly understaffed and underfunded healthcare system. People are experiencing massive delays accessing MRIs, mental health professionals and specialist appointments. #Politas needs to do better

#ausmedia Do better. There was no "snubbing" of a woefully inadequate nominee, there was simply awarding of a prize to a more credentialed candidate who isn't currently involved in active fascism, eugenics and destruction of democratic norms.

Is anyone else in #auspol finding listening to Parliamentary sessions rage inducing at the moment? The audacity of the Opposition is unmatched and we need to introduce penalties for lying in Parliament.

#auspol needs to regulate the media. This fiasco of a soundbite from a foreign leader about "women needing to tough it out during pregnancy" does not deserve the attention it's getting and the way it's being reported is awful. He's unqualified, uninformed and it's designed to further harm women.

I'm seriously unsure that the level of hypocrisy that sees Brendan Carr appear on Fox News to decry Jimmy Kimmel lying can be replicated elsewhere. Fox News, the broadcaster who knowingly lied about voting results and machines, is where Carr chooses to appear. The US experiment has failed.

I would really appreciate it if #auspol journos could refer to Netanyahu, and Putin, as "alleged war criminals" or "wanted war criminals" when they're reporting on their statements. ICC arrest warrants are current for both of them.

I heard him speaking on the ABC today and it appears that he's taking a "my way or the highway" approach. In the part I heard he seemed to conflate compromising to find a workable path with both parties selling out their values. It's like he's actively trying to not be Premier.

J.D. Vance literally used the Army Corps of Engineers to manipulate a public waterway, so he’d have an easier time kayaking and it’s a blip on the radar.

It was made harder by the Lib Team, mid-way through the election putting out material saying that they would stop Labor selling off assets even though Labor never said they'd do it. It was a wild campaign.

I fear this point is missed by a number of people who are looking at the issue from outside Tassie. There are differences between Lib/Labor but on the stadium, salmon farms and other big ticket items where the electorate is clearly divided, there is agreement.

Not to be that person, but again, there appears to be a problem here. Liberals are the ones who proposed selling state owned assets (www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...) then walked back the idea during the campaign. Labor never proposed selling off assets.

Just to clarify, Tassie Labor has only pledged to end native logging by 2040, not 2030 (per their 2024 campaign). On their website's Policy Platform page, that they direct you to, they've removed even that and their "Fresh Start" area has no mention of the end of native forest logging.

I thought that was akin to what he was doing with the "Trump Bibles" (I think they're also called the God Bless the USA Bible) and Oklahoma ordering schools to stock them.

To be fair to the bot, having multiple early elections for stability that then result in ever-decreasing stability, does seem like fiction.

Listening to debate in #auspol HoR this morning and I don't understand why the FEE-HELP legislation hasn't been amended to do both the 20% reduction and the cap on indexation. It makes sense to take both short and long term action to assist people studying.

Absolute fiascos like the one just perpetuated in the Senate are part of the reason young voters are disengaged. The Senate President needed to touch grass if she honestly believed holding up a sign was more of an affront to decency than a genocide. FFS #auspol

#auspol again sanctioning someone who tells the truth (racism in the Senate). And the two major parties again working together to avoid confronting systemic racism in that place.

I possibly need to stop listening to Parliament in the tractor. This is rage inducing.

Where was this level of passion for misogyny or racism? That’s right, people who called that out were sanctioned, not the ones who actually engaged in behaviour that wouldn’t be acceptable in a normal workplace.

This debate is an absolute joke. Hanson’s whole party disrespecting the Welcome is apparently fine but heaven forbid someone not support a genocide (or they seem to be more upset about the President’s feelings from having to see a silently held sign).

Their main problem is bigger as they have to pay the lease to the superfund regardless of the season otherwise they’ll be in breach. This is why having farm land in super wasn’t a good idea.
