Check your ballot. It’s possible that it’s been challenged due to leaving the ballot envelope unsigned or a signature mismatch. You can cure that with King County Elections so your ballot is counted! kingcounty.gov/en/dept/elec...

Or recognize that an old house has had a good life and should be replaced. We didn't want anything to do with asbestos, lead paint, derelict oil tanks, knob&tube wiring, etc when we were looking for places to live, and all those older places can be just as expensive as the newer places

Bruce Harrell, Sarah Nelson, and Ann Davidson have had their chance but would rather pass up tens of millions in state support to make this roadway safer, just to keep their rich constituencies comfortable.

That beats the bike lanes on Meridian north of the college that have cushions in the bike lane. Clearly speeding cyclists are the true safety problem

I love seeing both the barrier stencils and the parking enforcement on patrol!

It took a little bit for me to appreciate it but now I love it. Plus, it has *books* so a lot more than just architecture. ☺️

If you don’t frequently see families with kids traveling to destinations by bike, your bike network isn’t safe enough (&/or your zoning forces sprawl & car dependency).

If I can use two arms to brake, signal, shift, and keep my body up, I'm sure a driver can manage to flip a lever while they're straining to move their foot from one pedal to another.

Agreed, even aggressive drivers are at least somewhat worried about scratching their paint. Distracted drivers just don't care

I really wish we expressed speed in short-distance-per-short-interval: 44 feet per second sounds a lot scarier than 30mph. That one second phone glance is the same as running over 8 people laid out head-to-toe.

I've been out in Seattle almost 20 years. The larches and maples change but many other trees just go brown, or are evergreen.

How hard would it (hypothetically) be to push the barrier out into the car lane?

Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US? It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."

Maybe we should make insurance cost proportional to vehicle weight and maximum speed?

As an inhaler user who can't drive, I really dislike this reporting. Guess I might as well let my asthma run rampant so I can't bike, and figure out how a car works.

This is one of our favorite movies. It's easy to watch as a parable for imperialism even though it definitely wasn't filmed with that intent

The only time I've been hit (fortunately lightly) was a side-swipe by a Rivian driver pulling out of a parking space in a school zone. I was already in front of the driver wearing reflective gear, front and back lights and reflectors, but she said she didn't see me. Should I be a bigger narcissist?
