No, no, they could be the solution to your remaining maggot problem!

I am frankly terrified by the logistics of this.

Today involves getting an old and collapsing sofa out of an extremely small (by British housing standards) sitting room and into the front garden for collection. By me and two teenagers, one of whom will have a sore arm and a grievance about it (vaccination catch up session).

The downside of being a romance author. If it was @tkingfisher.com the fox would have reanimated itself and walked out of the shed without the need for assistance.

I set in sleeves *before* sewing side and sleeve seams. Gives a lot more room to play with for easing.

Not just the exhibitions, from the entire building (still grumpy about being shoved out of the way in front of Vermeer's Milkmaid by a man who wanted a selfie with Art (but never actually looked at her).

It wore out in the mid to late 80s and the replacement was bought on a daily trip to Denmark, because my parents thought it looked good. Still in use now. Pepper shakers were only at grandparents' houses.

I know the first family pepper mill of my childhood was French, because it said "Peugeot" on it, but it had just always been there (parents set up home together in the late 60s)

Frodo wakes. โ€˜Where am I?โ€™

โ€˜In the House of Elrond. It is ten oโ€™clock in the morning. The morning of October the twenty-fourth, if you want to know.โ€™

โ€˜Gandalf!โ€™

โ€˜Yes, I am here. And you are lucky to be here, too, after all the absurd things you have done since you left home.โ€™

Cnut. He's forgotten about Cnut, who went on pilgrimage to Rome in 1027. Oh, and Edward I, who spent 2 months at the court of Gregory X in 1273. Otherwise, all over the detail, as per.

I reject them, because they always collapse extremely messily. And even though untangling hopeless tangles of yarn is one of my skills and an exercise in meditation and forgetting oneself, it's massively easier when there isn't quite a chunk of knitting attached to one end.

Given your whole "Parliament is supreme but actually we mean King-in-Parliament when we say Parliament" thing I'm more than a /little/ skeptical that you'd had anything close to a "No Kings" movement in the 17th century.

In the 17th century the British famously removed the need for the royal hat budget with a single stroke, FFS!

Coffee only gets into your lungs (up your nose, into your keyboard etc)when you read a stupid statement like that while drinking it. Also, the white mug I drink strong black coffee in every day is, well, white. Because it gets washed up.

Collage of two photos. Both photos have a large embroidery hoop with ivory coloured fabric. On the fabric are embroidered two different designs inspired by the Wheel of The Year. The design on the left is made of circles with nature illustrations, the design on the right is made of circles with geometric elements in bright colours.

And then you get to the writers/directors. "So I told him that as he gets stabbed in the back he should make a noise like urrghhh, and he said actually, when people are stabbed in the back they don't do that. So then I looked up his war record. And shut up" (to paraphrase Peter Jackson there)

He's one of my favourite things about the cast commentaries on the LOTR DVDs. Hobbits: and then we fell out of a boat! Legolas: I look so deep here [dim, elf, you look *dim*]. John Rhys Davies: yacht, Julie Christie, fine wines. Lee: As Tolkein told me in a letter in 1968...

More quilting books need to say "lay this block out and check for swastikas *before* you sew any seams", I have found.

Not sure if it was a stoat or a weasel? Remember, a weasel is weasily recognised, because a stoat is stoatily different.

Me at 2.30pm: You know what would be nice on a grey autumn Sunday afternoon? A second cup of coffee. What's the worst that could happen?
Me at 2.30am the next morning: Oh. That. That's what could happen. Apparently we don't do sleeping any more.

It is in fact the 75th birthday today of Prince Charles Napoleon, possibly (it's disputed, naturally) current head of the House. Which is quite the coincidence.

And it's a happy 75th birthday to Prince Charles Napoleon head (disputedly) of the Bonaparte house! Hope he likes his presents, sorry it was a bit of a rush getting them...
