Crossing the river twice for a pub-crawl on the same day is beyond the call of duty.

Pretty sure that an apology from the printer shouldn't be enough defence, but in these troubled times...you know...

Fifth anniversary. Anniversary always means years, so "5th year anniversary" is unnecessary (while "6 month anniversary" is stupid).

It was perfectly normal in the early 1960s.

I did that calculation too. He would have had to connect through Amsterdam.

And Gavin's original Sailing is far, far better than the famous cover by that Scottish guy. Fair enough that he was able to make it a hit in 1975, but when the BBC were looking for a signature theme for their Royal Navy show, the original version would have been a better choice.

To be fair, it may be that OP has only heard it, and never seen it written down. In Australia and New Zealand, the word has a different meaning.

Was going to suggest

but thought better of it. Fill your boots though.

I've seen that a bot provides analysis on another account and want to see if it's automatic. My streak was on the edge of a precipice this morning.

It's close to a better known legend about bodily fluid. Except it wasn't a nose. Or a sneeze. But you knew that.

Unfortunately, this is nonsense. Impresario Jonathan King had a dream in which he saw a banner saying "10cc - the best band in the world" and so the new band was named. These days, being named after something in a Jonathan King dream might not be considered as a good thing.

Also, there's the claim that defection means MPs could be supporting a different set of policies to the ones they were elected to support. But we have already established that there is scarcely any difference between the Tories and Reform.

I think it's pretty obvious that the Govt response will be that historically we have voted for a person, not a party, and that's not going to change.

Mayer Trust lecture tonight is "Do you remember the 1960s?" I should probably have mentioned this sooner. Might do better next month.

Quite so. I found myself away from home where the choices for lunch were basically Greggs or McDonalds. Found out that day that I'm not as Northern as I thought. Allegedly.

I was at the equivalent show at Wembley. The set by Santana was one of the worst things I ever heard. I think he was a bit cross at being lower down the running order than UB40, who were later booed.

Years ago, comparing notes with my wife. I had been amazed to see my cousin's 8-track cartridge player. I'd not seen one in ages, never seen one in a house before, just in car stereos. My wife was boggled to see their Betamax player. Pretty sure they are the sort who would have bought a squarial.

I went to iPlayer to watch it, and wasn't disappointed. A bonus was that it was immediately followed by Frank Cottrell-Boyce who was at college with me!

Once upon a time, I received a postcard from my mother. The entire message on it was: Dakar is different. We won't be coming here again.

No internet.
