Small businesses are the engine of the Wirral and our high streets. That’s why I was so pleased to join the Heswall and District Business Association to discuss how we can work together to support small businesses.

Today I was in Thornton Hough for one of my coffee mornings, speaking to people about the issues that matter to them.

It was a really lovely morning, thank you to everyone who came and had a chat with me.

Good conversations with people whilst out and about - including about the leisure centre.

The positive things we’re doing to help people don’t often make it into our news feeds, which is why I think this good old fashioned work is important.

Both Wirral St John’s and Claire House provide such invaluable support in our community for people with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones.

I’m so pleased that this Labour Government has allocated such important funding to our hospices – it will make a real difference.

We’re delivering increased police patrols and stronger prevention and enforcement action from the council and police – changes people have told me they want to see.

I will continue working to ensure that other pockets of antisocial behaviour across our area are addressed.

I have been working and campaigning locally to tackle the blight of antisocial behaviour, so I’m pleased to see that West Kirby will benefit from the Government’s summer crackdown initiative.

In Hoylake, Scottish Power has a major training centre to help their apprentices go on to have excellent careers.

Steve Rotheram and I recently went to see the training in action and discuss Scottish Power’s role in delivering good jobs and clean energy.

For too long, transport in areas like ours was neglected, and people have been left struggling to get around.

I’m really pleased to see this Government investing in the Wirral – delivering a new train station, better busses and fixing our roads.

I was really pleased to visit St Bridget's C of E Primary School to meet students and talk to their Headteacher Mr Le Feuvre about the work they do.

I'm meeting schools across Wirral West to discuss how I can support them and their students. Thanks to everyone at St Bridget's for having me.

Today I took my petition for a privacy screen at West Kirby Concourse to the streets, speaking to people in West Kirby about why I think this is important.

Was great to have so many conversations about the issues that matter to people.

In just one year, this Labour government is fixing the foundations to build a stronger Britain. With people from across Wirral West, I’m working hard to bring the improvements our area needs.

Some highlights from Labour’s first year in office ⬇️

The government is investing £3 million for the scheme, to help more children experience the benefits of spending time outdoors.

I will continue to call for important investment in green spaces for schools across our area.

I had a great time with Stephen Morgan, Minister for Early Education at Ganney’s Meadow School, where children and teachers are turning grey spaces into green spaces through the National Education Nature Park scheme.

The sun was shining brightly and we were out talking to people in West Kirby.

Anti social behaviour, parking and public services came up. Lots to take away.

Compensation for the victims of the infected blood scandal is not only about money, it's about closure.

We must ensure that the process is swift and transparent, so more victims are able to get the redress they deserve.

I was delighted to open the new borehole at Hoylake Allotments.

The new borehole allows for running water to be brought to the site for the first time in its history.

I had a great time taking a tour of the grounds and talking to allotment holders. Thank you to everyone at Hoylake Allotments.
