Cops in my hometown got away with literal murder today. Ta’kiya Young should still be alive and her murderer should be in prison.

This “not guilty” verdict shines a bright light on how little progress has been made to protect black life and reduce police violence.

Two months was harder than two years for me. Take one day at a time. It gets easier if you focus on healing not just controlling behaviors.

Having to concentrate on physical movement (like memorizing dance steps or making sure I don’t die) is like a little brain break. So many happy chemicals

You did not ask for advice, but I’m 17 years sober so take what you like. Make a list of ways to move that sound fun. Try one a week until you find something you like doing. I don’t like “exercise” but I LOVE capoeira & roller skating. I’m bad at both & don’t care.

I swear recovery skills are the only reason I haven’t completely lost my shit

I was at a skate practice recently — were looking for a song to do a drill to and a Gen Z aged person said “I’m a big Chumbuwumba (sp?) fan” and my Gen X self nearly spit water through my nose

Congratulations!

That’s real. At 2 years, I expected to be “farther along” with healing than I was. I shared about it in a mtg and a bunch of old timers chuckled. Feelings remain pesky at 17+ years but the more I practice sitting with them, the less panicky I get. Ride the wave.

Congratulations! Im on the countdown to 18 years and finding those touch points (tattoos & annoying sayings) are keeping me grounded. My brain always gets wonky around anniversaries. May yours be blessed.
