I hope he gets his appetite back soon ❤️ And if he DOES eat treats but not his regular food - don't hesitate to give him some extra treats. I'm no catspert but I base that on medical advice for human children who won't eat. In the end simple calories are more important than nutritional value.

I've also had success with switching to a new brand of cat food for a couple of days, only to then go back to the usual (which he will then be more enthusiastic about)

Part of this was also to keep the area around the bowl more regularly maintained. My cat's a sloppy eater and half-eaten bits around the bowl had a similar effect.

What I was first going to suggest is mostly relevant if you're feeding him dry food. For me it worked to give my cat less food each serving, so there wasn't old food left in the bowl. The smell of partially eaten dry food left in the bowl turned my cat off from eating 1/2

Oh I see. He might've started associating eating with pain. My cat had issues using the litter box after experiencing a bad UTI. In our case I think I helped him back by giving him lots of praise and pets and treats every time he used the box for a while. But that sounds harder in your case

I don't want to overstep by offering unsolicited advice but if the problem is behavioural I've found a couple of ways that helped my cat when he wasn't eating much and would be glad to share if they might be of help. You might've tried them already, but you never know
