Yeah but they put their names on stadiums and high rises and stuff like that now, not something regular people can benefit from without paying through the nose

Americans want you to get rid of them, not give them more training dollars or ask them yet again to stop breaking the laws that already exist

Whatโ€™s the starting point for the 25% real income growth for blue collar workers?

04.02.2026 23:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The 25% real income gains incorporates the increase in the costs of the big expenses people cite (housing, childcare, healthcare, education)? I was under the impression that the standard inflation measures usually looked at primarily (or solely) consumer goods, energy, that kind of thing

04.02.2026 23:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So you were agreeing with Buick? Iโ€™m not trying to be obtuse here it seems like you were disagreeing earlier but then you and I talked through it and it seems like youโ€™re agreeing now

(Maybe this isnโ€™t inflation adjusted)

If Iโ€™m reading this correctly, the price of housing has tripled in the last 25 years?

04.02.2026 22:58 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Right, but some version of this same thing has happened with basically every house in existence over the past 10 or 20 or 30 years, right?

04.02.2026 22:55 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Like, I get that a 1300 square foot house from the 1950s isnโ€™t super comparable with a 5,000 sqft McMansion built in the last 10 years, but this is literally the same house

This is my house when I bought it 14 years ago and (honestly, a probably slightly lower estimate than what it would actually sell for) today. No square footage added, no major improvements, lot is the same size, we obviously didnโ€™t change the location. This is not considered a โ€œconsistentโ€ good?

04.02.2026 22:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Can you define consistent for me? Is this like a gallon of milk 15 years ago is basically the same today but a car 15 years ago had fewer features?

At like 4:30 in the afternoon?

Itโ€™s very simple, all you gotta do is stay healthy, donโ€™t have kids, skip college, and uhโ€ฆ hang onโ€ฆ be homeless? That canโ€™t be right

04.02.2026 20:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I have three kids and if they all decide to go to college I think Iโ€™m just never going to retire

04.02.2026 20:23 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Honestly my income has probably outpaced inflation over that time. And yet I could afford to buy this house then and I couldnโ€™t come close today.

04.02.2026 20:22 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Got very lucky with timing but the โ€œvalueโ€ of my vinyl-siding house in a neighborhood with 3 floorplans has gone up ~2.5x since we bought less than 15 years ago, I legit donโ€™t know how anyone who makes median wage is supposed to afford a house today

04.02.2026 20:18 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Is this the inflation calculation that doesnโ€™t include housing, education, or healthcare?

04.02.2026 20:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The Republican version of this is โ€œhow am I supposed to explain to my kid that gay people exist?โ€

TFW youโ€™re taking the stand in your DUI case and the only tie you have is the one mom bought you for grandpaโ€™s funeral when you were 9

The single best thing for Trumpโ€™s popularity is Trump being irrelevant and passive and powerless. If he isnโ€™t doing anything, the dumbest 1/3 of the population forgets how much he sucks, until he starts doing things again and they remember

โ€œI do not.โ€

The point theyโ€™re making is 100% correct of course, a billion dollars is an absurd amount for any one person to control, let alone hundreds of billions

People think a billion is like a million but a bit more. I mean, I can imagine a million of something. Even a few hundred million. It's a lot, but I can DO it
People don't know how much a billion is. You don't. I don't. It's not possible to really know it. It's a fucking inconceivably large number

Name removed because Iโ€™m not trying to dunk here, you cannot in fact imagine a hundred million of something, you probably cannot imagine a million of something. You might, MAYBE know the names of 2-5,000 people. There are something like 9,000 visible stars and even that number might be too big

Whatโ€™s the line about conservatives describing crimes in the most generic way possible?
