The 25% real income gains incorporates the increase in the costs of the big expenses people cite (housing, childcare, healthcare, education)? I was under the impression that the standard inflation measures usually looked at primarily (or solely) consumer goods, energy, that kind of thing

This is my house when I bought it 14 years ago and (honestly, a probably slightly lower estimate than what it would actually sell for) today. No square footage added, no major improvements, lot is the same size, we obviously didn’t change the location. This is not considered a “consistent” good?

Got very lucky with timing but the “value” of my vinyl-siding house in a neighborhood with 3 floorplans has gone up ~2.5x since we bought less than 15 years ago, I legit don’t know how anyone who makes median wage is supposed to afford a house today
