Her books are litfic about trans women in Australia, check them out if you like Imogen Binnie or Casey Plett. Theyβre short & free & can be read as standalones.

22.07.2025 23:05 β π 15 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I place a lot of value on my friendships, but being single has literally made it harder for me to access health care.
22.07.2025 18:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0When my friends bring up something overtly political, I often want to scream at them even when I agree with them. Because Iβve already seen the same thing said 5,000 times on social media. But of course itβs not my friendsβ fault that I spend too much time on social media!
21.07.2025 21:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is so interesting bc I often hear English speakers say βweβ to their customers / students / patients when they clearly mean βyou.β Like a voice teacher said βIβm hearing our vocal cords not coming together all the way,β when the student was the only one singing.
16.07.2025 17:08 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I finish a book, Iβm not necessarily thinking about whether Iβll read it again, Iβm just thinking about whether I loved it. If I loved a book, I am theoretically willing to reread it someday, but in practice I almost always prioritize books Iβve never read before.

Iβm agnostic on whether kids should learn cursive, please donβt do discourse about that in my replies! Also donβt @ me to say I canβt call Anne Lister a lesbian because she didnβt call herself a lesbian, believe me I am well aware of the thorniness of sexual orientation labels
15.07.2025 05:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I *did* learn cursive in school and her handwriting was still hard to read. So my takeaway is that if you want to read old manuscripts, you may need specialized training and/or a lot of patience, regardless of what the K-12 curriculum includes.
15.07.2025 05:48 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I once tried to transcribe Anne Listerβs diariesβshe was a 19th c. lesbian who wrote partly in a substitution cypher so she could safely write about her sexuality. I taught myself the cypher but then gave up transcribing because her handwriting in regular English orthography was too hard to read.

14.07.2025 16:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The problem is students arenβt simultaneously folding laundry while in lecture. I donβt know anyone who just sits and listens to a podcast all the way through while doing nothing else.
