Don’t get me started on the anti-consumer nightmare that is USB Type-B Micro cables which lack the Data +/- wires, and so can only deliver 5V @ 500mA.

Even worse are Micro-B or Type-C devices whose Data pins aren’t hooked up - and how this makes powerbanks and Type-C to C cables fail to work.

Explained to my partner the difference between Thunderbolt 1 & 2, Mini DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3, USB Type-C, USB 2.0/3.0/3.1/3.2, associated “Gen 1/Gen 2/Gen 2x2” fuckery, USB Type-B, Type B 3.0, Type-B Mini, Type-B Micro, Type-B Micro 3.0, Type-A Mini and Type-A Micro.

I hate the USB-IF.
