Devastating to hear the reports of the crash on Thursday afternoon in Wantirna South. My thoughts are with all affected during this difficult time.
11.07.2025 01:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We need Sanctions Now. Call your local MPs, Penny Wong and the PM, write to them, make noise. Other countries have stepped up their action in this moment. We should too. Australia must sanction the extremist Netanyahu government.
24.05.2025 00:15 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0We saw horrifying reports that 14,000 babies were at risk of starvation. Today, Israel once again intensified its strikes on Gaza, with (WHO) warning that Gazaβs healthcare system is on the verge of collapse.
24.05.2025 00:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The limited shipments of aid that have reached Gaza in the last 24 hours are nowhere near enough to address the dire needs of Palestinians. Basic supplies such as fresh food, water and fuel have been blockaded by Israel for over 80 days.
24.05.2025 00:15 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The Prime Minister should not be inviting Trump to Australia.
Trump is a danger to peace and a danger to democracy.
He emboldens hate and hard-right ideology.
We should be rethinking our relationship with Trump's US, not sucking up to him.
It's absolutely ridiculous that the gender pay gap is still raging on.
New data shows that only 1 in 5 employers have closed the gender pay gap, with 72% of employers having a pay gap that favours men. π§΅
The Greens are the party of the arts.
Our plan will see our creative sector thrive for many years to come.
We will invest billions of dollars into the arts and ensure that Australian storytelling will be prioritised on our screens.
We want to see young people excited about following their artistic dreams, and we want more festivals, theatre and live music.
The plan includes:
Piloting a Living Wage for Artists program for up to 10,000 artists.
Legislating a $250 minimum performance fee for musicians and live performers at publicly funded events.
Putting an artist in residence in all of our public schools and public libraries.
The work of artists has been undervalued in our society for far too long.
That's why earlier this week my federal colleagues released a plan which will ensure arts workers are respected, well-paid and supported in their essential work they do for our community.
It was great to join HACSU and so many of our state's life-saving mental health workers at the first stage of their protected industrial action at the Northern Hospital.
Theyβre advocating for better pay and working conditions for ALL workers in the mental health sector.
The new Labor policy on expanding bulk billing is a win for everyday households and another show of Greens pressure getting results.
Now all we need is for Labor to put it through Parliament to Dutton-proof it before the next election instead of dangling it over voterβs heads.
Itβs just cooked that one big bank can rake in over $5 billion in profits in just six months while 3,000 workers have their jobs on the chopping block.
Come on, Labor. Protect our workforce and make the big banks pay up.
If we properly taxed our big banks, no one would lose their jobs, and we wouldnβt compromise the public services people rely on.
Our plan for a 0.05% quarterly levy would raise $16.5 bn over ten years.
The big banks wouldnβt even notice the impact, but everyday Victorians would.
The Labor Government have announced that 3,000 public sector jobs could be on the chopping block.
We should be properly resourcing and expanding these services, not cutting them.
How do we pay for it? Tax the banks.

In 2025, we should be ending the cost of living crisis and get our state back on track.
Itβs time to make these companies pay their fair share. Letβs prioritise household savings instead of bank megaprofits.
$1 billion a year could mean investment in public housing to lower rents, renewable energy to lower energy prices, public transport to secure 50 cent fares.
Making our state a happier, safer, and cheaper place to live, ensuring a better life for future generations.
The government has been long too eager to help the big banks in making their mega profits at the expense of finding any real solution to the cost of living crisis.
$1 billion a year could change the lives of so many everyday Victorians.
These big banks in Australia have a combined total asset of almost $5.5 trillion. This is close to double the entire GDP of Australia.
Wages have stagnated, everyday costs are on the rise, and the biggest companies are hoarding away the money. We need to turn this around.
Last week, the Commonwealth Bank posted a half-year cash profit of $5.13bn thanks to its massive mortgage portfolio, even while its customers are struggling to pay their bills and put food on the table.
This is obscene.

One of the questions the Greens get asked the most is, how will we pay for our plans to address the cost of living crisis?
Well this week, weβre introducing a bill that will do just that.
A bank levy at 0.05% that will raise more than $1 billion a year.
greens.org.au/vic/news/med...
$5.13 billion. In half a year.
Commonwealth bank just released its profits for the second half of last year.
Meanwhile people canβt pay their mortgages or put food on the table.
This is fucked.
Tax the banks.
Gender affirming care saves the lives of trans and gender diverse young people.
What is happening in Queensland is devastating.
These politicians are the last people Iβd be taking health advice from.
We canβt allow this hate to spread across the country.

Itβs right to expect & demand our political institutions protect us.
With fires raging around the world, in our summer and Californiaβs winter, we urgently need to secure the right to a safe climate.

Itβs deeply hurtful to many community members to see the uniforms marching, given both past and ongoing practices of the organisation. Institutions that cause harm donβt need a platform at these events.
Solidarity with TGV in all the work they do. Itβs time for accountability from Victoria Police.
The LGBTQIA+ community has been demanding accountability from VicPol, and too often these calls arenβt being heard.
Every member of our community deserves to feel safe and respected, especially in spaces that are made to celebrate them, their loved ones, and our wonderful diversity in this state.
Yesterday, Victorian trans and gender diverse advocacy body, Transgender Victoria, announced they would withdraw from the Midsumma Pride March, citing concerns with Victoria Police's participation at the event.
Itβs important we take a moment to acknowledge the significance of this.
