Labour's Andy Slaughter MP, chair of the Justice Select Committee, addressed a Law for Change event tonight - where he said he expects in the upcoming King's Speech "major reforms to marriage, like [allowing] humanist marriages, & to cohabitation, something that I've campaigned on for a long time" πŸ‘€

After Becky’s mum died, it was time to sell her childhood home. Then Andrew Milne got in touch Plus: As the search for answers continues, The Tribune takes to the road

This is part 2 of @sheffieldtribune.bsky.social story I shared earlier this month. Great journalism by a local/regional paper supporting its community

Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed β€˜patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

Without asylum:

Marks and Spencer wouldn't exist

Queen would have been without a front man

The other queen wouldn't have had a husband

Judith Kerr would never have written The Tiger Who Came to Tea

And thousands of less famous people wouldn't have been teachers, politicians, neighbours, etc

To knit together two stories: through intimidation, litigation & extortion, Trump is clearly trying to create a media ecosystem where nobody asks him about Epstein - or indeed anything discomfiting. It is appalling to see so many UK media individuals & institutions aiding & abetting his corruption.

If we're talking about bias, why do BBC politics programmes, from Politics Live to the Laura Kuennsberg Show, still always begin with a look at the newspaper front pages, which are overwhelmingly biased in one direction. Helps frame the entire news agenda and debate in their favour

Why can't the BBC just be more impartial towards President Trump, like GB News, says Nigel Farage.

I have said this before but feel it’s worth saying again to all those baying for the BBCs blood. Yes it’s an imperfect organisation but be careful what you wish for, you will miss in ways you never realised if it goes.

Heartening to see the Conservative former secretary of state for Justice pointing out how very unfunded the prisons system is.

Rather a pity his timing wasn't a little better, because just a tenth of the money used on unnecessary pre election tax cuts could have made a huge difference

School pupils are to be taught how to tackle conspiracy theories, spot 'fake news' & root out misinformation. The Daily Mail, ajudged by Wikipedia to be an unreliable new source, is furious. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to work out why.
