Like most things in my life, this has been a huge mistake

08.10.2025 03:13 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This. I hate that weโve adopted their marketing terms. Iโm not 100% sure LLMs will be a complete boondoggle, but this doesnโt look like that.
07.10.2025 18:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The single most damaging thing to our โlethalityโ was drumming trans service members out of the service. Even if they had simply stopped allowing enlistment/conscription, it would have been preferable to breaking the compact to our comrades-in-arms who kept the faith.

06.10.2025 19:17 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The average caveman spent less than thirty five seconds selecting a rock for combat, wheras intercontinental ballistic missile programs often fail to produce results after days, weeks, or even months.
06.10.2025 16:23 โ ๐ 25 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0tbf to Fury, a lot of US tankers at the time believed myths like that about the tiger specifically, mainly because they hardly ever actually saw one.
06.10.2025 16:20 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I've always thought it was a good *design* but it wasn't until the late war that they were able to get their manufacturing to a level it could make a reliable tank out of it.
06.10.2025 16:07 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0we didn't like the aircobra because the driveshaft was a maintenance nightmare, but the soviet pilots loved getting them in lend-lease because it could out turn almost anything thanks to that extra torque, and their attrition was so high they didn't care as much about servicability.
06.10.2025 16:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not to mention the p-40 warhawk, an *interwar* fighter that was so good it still operated with upgrades in the China theater until almost the end of the war.
06.10.2025 15:58 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Also the p-51 tends to overshadow the p-47, which was possibly the best all-round fighter of the early/mid war. It was kinda ugly, i guess, but that's part of why i love it.
06.10.2025 15:56 โ ๐ 15 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0and considering it was initially designed as a medium scout tank, its ability to field across the entire european theater in almost every tank role shows that at the very least it had good fundamentals to its design.
06.10.2025 15:54 โ ๐ 21 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It doesnโt even look like an early p-51! It looks like the marinesโ buffalo lol
05.10.2025 19:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have questions about that p-51 tho
05.10.2025 19:34 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I mean i'm just an NCO, but I did go out of my way to find out what my responsibilities are under the UCMJ. There's no carve out for rank, but there are processes under regulations to adjudicate illegal orders.
03.10.2025 18:22 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm not against prosecuting them, I just think it's a plausible defense.
I'm not a lawyer; at some point I have to take a lawyer's word for some of these things.
if you go to legal and say "i think this order is illegal" and they say, "no it's good fam, here's the legal justification from COCOM's legal office" i don't think it's unreasonable to at least be able to present that as a defense.
03.10.2025 18:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If you do some form of due diligence to verify the legality of orders that seem wrong to you, that should at least be some form of colorable defense imo.
03.10.2025 18:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0They should at the very least be concerned about it.
