1. Thats a neat idea - how would the behaviour differ between the pipes? Is the ?|> doing something like a purrr:possibly wrap in theory?

I personally really like Statistical Rethinking by @rmcelreath.bsky.social (xcelab.net/rm/), but I've also heard good things about Regression and Other Stories (avehtari.github.io/ROS-Examples/) and Regression Modelling Strategies (hbiostat.org/rmsc/) - depends on what you're looking for though

Great choice! r4ds.hadley.nz/intro.html by @hadley.nz (data work) or socviz.co by @kjhealy.co (data visualization specific) are good places to start imo

This (quarto's typst integration) was my intro to typst, and I found myself using raw typst often enough that for some document types I've found it easier to just go over to typst and forget about quarto

Not saying I'm a typst convert but lets just say I was never tempted to do this in LaTeX
