06.08.2025 21:27 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Actually theyโre in TidierData: tidierorg.github.io/TidierData.j...
06.08.2025 00:09 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0If youโre looking for ggplot syntax check out TidierPlots (work in progress), and I think we have nest and unnest in TidierIteration
06.08.2025 00:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 01. Thats a neat idea - how would the behaviour differ between the pipes? Is the ?|> doing something like a purrr:possibly wrap in theory?
2. How would you enforce this is you give people access to a REPL?
3. Iโm not familiar with Nix really but Julia Pkgs work essentially how you have described
What do you see as the biggest differences? I see a lot of syntax and functionality overlap between what youโve outlined here and what you can do in Julia

01.08.2025 23:47 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I liked this blog post on the subject: distantprovince.by/posts/its-ru... - I find it really annoying as well, mostly because if I wanted to know what an LLM would say in response to my question, I'm not an idiot, I would just ask them directly
28.07.2025 15:44 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Another #juliacon in the books! Check out my talk on TidierPlots.jl here: www.youtube.com/live/HMdBi9L... and the State of Tidier.jl (by Daniel Rizk) here: www.youtube.com/live/_Uf2KQX... to see what's been going on with @tidierjl.bsky.social in #julialang

Iโve been making a concerted effort to delete apps and touch grass recently and itโs good
What happens on the hellscape formerly known as twitter actually doesnโt matter
Imagine writing this much text about a hypothetical guy you made up specifically to be mad at
25.07.2025 15:38 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Haha that sounds like a problem thatโs at least partially self-inflicted
24.07.2025 12:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oh for sure - I was responding to the claim that installing packages is easy, โunlike every other programming languageโ. Julia still has some rough edges but its Pkg system is great
24.07.2025 12:11 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I heard trump only plays melee on timed, max items, poke floats

Iโve crashed RStudio to desktop dozens (hundreds?) of times at this point but 95% of them happened using {sf} so it doesnโt count
22.07.2025 12:14 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0All in on typst - there really is no need for LaTeX to exist anymore
21.07.2025 22:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0These values are required to do science - acting like this is a problem is like saying that CEOs valuing โprofessionalismโ or โpunctualityโ more than the average person means they arenโt value-aligned with the average person
20.07.2025 12:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I really like juliamono.netlify.app for code, but I donโt really have a go-to non-monospaced font
13.07.2025 13:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I did! I was cheering for @johnbedwards.io to win it all
08.07.2025 19:36 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Through the same open-source extension: github.com/julia-vscode..., but it just doesn't work quite as smoothly in positron
08.07.2025 19:34 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It supports Julia almost as well as vscode, yes - but โalmost as wellโ isnโt a compelling case to make the switch :)
08.07.2025 18:42 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Maybe controversial dataviz opinion but I think this rules
Also turkey being that high when chicken must be 10x more popular means itโs the most dangerous per serving by far I imagine
Iโve been using it since the open beta launch! Give me real #julialang support and itโll replace vscode on windows for me
08.07.2025 11:35 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1I don't think this is possible, but I could be wrong... the list of plugins appears to be hardcoded (with the exception of being able to turn RevealMath on and off) github.com/quarto-dev/q...
07.07.2025 13:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Personally I take a nano-retirement almost every day around noon to eat
Can I be on the news
I personally really like Statistical Rethinking by @rmcelreath.bsky.social (xcelab.net/rm/), but I've also heard good things about Regression and Other Stories (avehtari.github.io/ROS-Examples/) and Regression Modelling Strategies (hbiostat.org/rmsc/) - depends on what you're looking for though
03.07.2025 15:21 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Great choice! r4ds.hadley.nz/intro.html by @hadley.nz (data work) or socviz.co by @kjhealy.co (data visualization specific) are good places to start imo
03.07.2025 12:36 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This (quarto's typst integration) was my intro to typst, and I found myself using raw typst often enough that for some document types I've found it easier to just go over to typst and forget about quarto
Not saying I'm a typst convert but lets just say I was never tempted to do this in LaTeX
Or maybe a clearer visual:
