Yeah society is falling apart and we are watching it happen day by day, but on the bright side my 85 year old mother happened to casually drop today that she had to play bridge against her nemesis, and it brings me great joy to know that she has a nemesis (or rather, NEMESES when I asked about it)

I’m right on schedule

15 years ago, I took a pic of my young daughter standing in front of the tarantula tank at a pet store, her hand pressed to the glass, absolutely fascinated.

That same kid recently texted me that her scorpion had babies, so now she’s a grandma. So I guess I’m now a great grandma.

That was such a special and unreal thing to be behind the scenes on… the good old days ;-)

A nice shift in perceived colour between central and peripheral vision. The fixated disc looks purple while the others look blue.

The effect presumably comes from the absence of S-cones in the fovea.
