Obviously all of these efforts gained visibility & power & funding online but none of it works without that offline community.

If you care about this work, the most basic & profound thing you can do is figure out how to plug in to your community

The general strike worked because it was organized by union leaders. The community patrols & mutual aid worked because they were organized in small neighborhoods and by people in schools where other parents and kids were vulnerable.

I keep thinking about something that people on so many sides of this have pointed out: the protests in Minnesota worked because of on-the-ground organization that built on existing, off-line connections. This should be tremendously instructive to all of us.

when I talk about how this is truly the only show to have a romance novel structure, this is what I mean: every other romance adaptation turns the fundamentally, crucially narrow focus of a romance novel into a broader tv world. this show feels different because it does not.
