A-Frame Signs A-frame signs are rigid, free-standing movable signs (not fastened to the ground or a structure) and include information on one or both sides. A-frame signs require a permit from the City.

Did you know a-frame signs on Toronto sidewalks must have a permit? I don’t think they are generally permitted in locations other than the actual place of business. A call to 311 can lead to swift removal.

Answer: ONE TRILLION Apparently the trillion I’m familiar with, with 12 zeros, is “short form”. Apparently in some parts of the world the “long form” numbering system results in a trillion having 18 zeros. Somehow I’m not yet convinced I’m not the victim of a hoax.

The clue to 20 across in a recent New York Times Crossword Puzzle shook my understanding of numbers: Number with 12 zeros in the U.S. but 18 zeros in other parts of the world”. Huh?

Code white and code reds all resolved!

I’m in a hospital waiting room and in the few minutes I’ve been here there has been a code white (violent individual) and two code reds (fire). One of the code reds is on the floor where I am; staff just closed the waiting room doors.
