I attended the Dachau protest "against the right" yesterday - it took place on the ground where concentration camp prisoners were enslaved to work. Very moving, around 4000 demonstrators.

The CDU is planning to revoke the new citizenship law passed by the 🚦 government which will likely mean that I won't be able to get my citizenship after all and I'm devastated.

The CDU/CSU in Germany are shamelessly using the Aschaffenburg tragedy to push their extreme anti-migration agenda. Shameless.

I'm a member of my neighborhood "Bezirksausschuss" in Germany - local council. The far-right AfD registered demonstrations in front of planned shelters for asylum seekers - and the members of the BA are trying to organize counter-demos. The CSU explicitly is NOT interested in joining 🤬

There are major protests everywhere right now but it's scaaaary.

On Wednesday, the CDU/CSU, the Christian conservative party, brought a seriously scary migration bill to the floor of the Bundestag that passed due to the votes of the AfD the far right party, and broke the Brandmauer for the first time

It's supposed to be like a metaphorical wall to prevent something like the rise of the n*** party from happening again

Essentially that the democratic political parties won't cooperate with far right parties. They don't vote on any of their resolutions, no matter what, and they don't enter into any agreements or negotiations. They certainly don't use them to achieve a majority on a vote.

So since the end of WWII there has been a consensus on something called the "Brandmauer"

Have y'all been following what's happening in Germany? With the "firewall" falling? International news has barely picked it up.
