I'm currently reading this book with Wee Raccoon πŸ˜‚

Every couple of months we go out to the "cat bookstore" (Otis and Clementine's) and pick up some Far Side book

They did when I went down. I had to walk through the snow to pass. They were leaving, or at least moving their truck, when I was on my way up.

Car culture helped bring about Nova Scotia's projected $1.4-billion deficit and congestion crisis. The province's response is to dump more money into highway widening while transit stares down service cuts (despite high ridership) and the loss of bus lanes (to car congestion).

Every time you speak up - and every time you don't - there are people watching and learning about you and the world you help create.

A narrow sidewalk with guard rail on one side and disgusting snow on the other side. The sidewalk is mostly covered in an absolute mess of thick, uneven ice. The wide two lanes of road next to it are completely clear.

#hfxws lovely Heritage Day afternoon out there and the COLT felt as busy as a summer weekend!
Everything from the north end to the COLT was in good shape, except for the CN bridge, which has thick, uneven ice that’s dangerous for anyone walking or rolling. I added my travel bucket of salt fwiw.

A pale golden brown brick building is lit at a sharp angle by early sunlight. It is small in the frame next to a dark grey building next to it. The much taller Maritime Centre sits darker in the background, looming over the other buildings

Saturday morning photo stroll yesterday... First one of the year that I'm in love with. The south end of Granville Street with the Maritime Centre looming in the background.

At 9:18, 3rd period of the Finland-Switzerland women's ice hockey QF game, the ice crew came to clean the ice during a pause

What follows is the funniest use of the slo-mo alternate angle tech I've seen them use during these Olympics of one of the crew members falling

Obituary information for Erica Joy Axent Hilton View Erica Joy Axent Hilton's obituary, contribute to their memorial, see their funeral service details, and more.

It takes a lot of courage to write and share an obituary this honest, in the hopes it is of help to others. My heart goes out to Erica and everyone who knew her.

β€œSo, it is not the cycling infrastructure that is expensive, it is the unwillingness to reallocate travel lanes or parking spaces to micromobility traffic (or delay motor vehicle traffic in the case of the Macdonald bridge) that is the challenge.”

Possibly a magazine cover or catalog cover featuring a photo of a woman in a sporty, short green outfit preparing to mount a front-loader cargo bike with a massive wicker basket filled with flowers. She's on a muddy beach.

Some info found on the photo says it's from 1974.

If we had 150 people in town killed or seriously injured every year by any means other than cars, there would be almost unlimited resources put into solving the problem.
