There’s no such thing as an accident when it comes to traffic or workplace injuries or death. An inquest is definitely warranted to determine how to prevent this from happening again. And an investigation to determine liability.

Take the tunnel, Windsor city councillor says as Ambassador Bridge owners lobby against new bridge | CBC News A city councilor in Windsor, Ont., is encouraging Canadians who want to buy Canadian to travel from Windsor to Detroit through the Windsor-Detroit tunnel instead of crossing the Ambassador Bridge.

If you have to travel to Detroit - take the tunnel. Do not give Trump's oligarch friends any money.
Refuse to travel on the Ambassador Bridge.
Take the tunnel.
Better yet don't travel to the States at all.

Recommend you review the budgetary cuts being floated for HRM and MAKE A FUSS.
Example? Cut Sunday and Holiday transit. As if people don't have to work, run errands, get around on Sundays.

β€œthis budget has me seriously considering selling my businesses and moving. Halifax is going to become very unlivable, very quickly if our leadership doesn't start growing a spine and fixing something...

I wish the conversation would shift to a cost of service discussion, so we can begin to see just how royally we are fucking up out finances by gutting downtown so some rural boomers can keep paying 2-3k a year in property tax on thier mansions.”

Sam Austin:

β€œYou should write us or come present next week :)
Right now we're getting bombarded by the paid campaign by the Investment Property Owners Association. Other side of the argument hasn't really shown up.”

Also going to point out this exchange I spotted on Reddit. Right now we are losing this battle to the landlord lobby groups.

You can speak to Halifax Council in person or online on Wednesday February 18 or Wednesday March 4.

I would love to know how biking without a helmet is dangerous/unsafe to anyone other than the one wearing said helmet

I don't know who needs to hear this (it's council, Halifax's city council needs to hear this), but if the city is growing, which it is, you can't cut your way to sustainability when 9 of 16 districts run an annual deficit.

β€œSo, it is not the cycling infrastructure that is expensive, it is the unwillingness to reallocate travel lanes or parking spaces to micromobility traffic (or delay motor vehicle traffic in the case of the Macdonald bridge) that is the challenge.”

so we have a $1.4 Billion deficit . Houston's solution: we will increase cost for road maintenance, health care services, emergency services.

Finance Minister John Lohr said after a cabinet meeting Thursday the credit downgrading is indicative of how global economic pressure over the past year has impacted the provincial economy

No you thief it shows that your looting of tax dollars for Tim Houston is the reason we are financially fucked

NDP blames closed-door government spending for Nova Scotia's billion-dollar deficit | CBC News Claudia Chender says the $1.4-billion deficit has been driven by spending that isn't authorized by the Nova Scotia Legislature.

www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

they are correct, Tim Houston has been looting NS without authorization.

The province's auditor general has said that Premier Tim Houston's government has spent $6.7 billion outside the budget process since the 2020-21 fiscal year, including $1.6 billion in 2024-25

What a great time to drop news about fucking up on affordable childcare, forcing employees back to work, and then throw in a little nepotism too. As a treat.

and yes I knew it was the old white man even before I read the announcement. At least Tim Houston is consistent with his corruption.

Wow , nothing to see here folks, do not look at the Tim in the shadows. Corrupt through and through. No idea if he is qualified or not , the optics alone would preclude this ever happening in a non corrupt province. Looks like Tim believes that he is a mafia don and untouchable. #NSPoli

Re-normalization of the rat race, power-inefficient offices, stupid water cooler banter, cheap ass-reaming toilet paper, bad coffee and dealing with gross handsy coworkers is all about people who buy and sell real estate. Their investments mean nothing unless they’re used regularly. That’s it. -ND

Nova Scotians: The Halifax metropolitan area has a serious traffic problem. Congestion is getting worse.
Nobody:
Absolutely no one:
Houston government: What if we end all remote work and send thousands of provincial employees back to downtown at the exact same time?
Let’s add more cars πŸš—πŸš—πŸš—

Observations from Montreal An ever-changing collection of commentary and observations by Montrealers or about Montreal politics and culture.

The vast majority of Canadians support bans on handguns and assault rifles.

Pierre Poilievre has voted against every gun control measure in Parliament since 2004.

For those trying to protect poor fragile IOC and their β€˜rules’ - what about Russian flag on Roland Fishnaller helmet then ? Or it’s only dead Ukrainians that are bad for Olympic business ?

12.02.2026 13:48 β€” πŸ‘ 137    πŸ” 37    πŸ’¬ 8    πŸ“Œ 2

very true, these business owners who are pushing for this fail to understand that people (even those with descent paying jobs) are hurting financially. When the cost of going to the office is added on even less will be able to afford it.

The truly aggravating thing is that generous provincial remote work policies would be THE thing that could revitalize small town NS. But nope instead Timmy wants to incentivize all his employees to 1) hate him 2) live in Halifax. Bizarre!

It’s a helmet with pictures of people. No actual words on the helmet. If they had all died of old age or cancer it would have been ok, but since Russia killed them it’s not allowed. So fucking ridiculous.

13.02.2026 16:52 β€” πŸ‘ 24    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

unsurprising that the IOC bans a Ukrainian athlete paying tribute to his lost teammates when their "ban" on Russia for doping or for war is always just "you can still compete but with a neutral country title that everyone knows means Russia"
