Not concocted, but I think there’s been a feverishness since Covid - and the Johnson / Truss debacles - that hasn’t really left us. I wonder also if our justifiable abhorrence of what’s happening in the US leaves us operating permanently in outrage mode.

Agree entirely. I do wish we could keep in mind who benefits from these relentless destabilisation messages - because it isn’t anyone the majority of Labour MPs (and those who voted for them) would wish to see helped.

As someone who grew up in Manchester and has so often admired what you have said and done, I’m convinced this is the wrong decision at the wrong time. Very disappointed.
