I wrote a sequel by accident. Prophecy #71 was originally a self-contained story, but it was over 600 pages long (undoubtedly one of the reasons I couldn't get an agent to take a swing at it). I divided it down its convenient midpoint and made it a duology.

I try to take it easy on candy; I have enough difficulty resisting pastries. I did recently discover that my favorite candy bar is Nutrageous (even though it's way too sugary, like most candy bars). I also liked candy corns until I read the ingredients.

I would like to offer an advice:

If someone with the bust of a Greek philosopher as their profile picture tries to argue with you... just block them. You are never going to win the argument. You're part of a game and they're winning because you're playing.

So don't play.

I phrase I heard recently and totally love: "Don't wrestle with pigs. You'll both get muddy, and the pigs will enjoy it."

Terrific work, as always.

I thought it meant someone took a trip in a new boat that's a combination of a kayak and a canoe.

This kind of stuff IS why people need unions.

It may have a lot with how much the movie studios (like other corporate powers) want to replace their employees with A"I". Writers, animators, and even actors could all be replaced with a far inferior product that causes massive environmental damage, and the humans still involved want us to know it.

Here's what our poet says when he is accused of hanging around in taverns:

"Poets who profess to spurn
populated places
lock themselves in hidey-holes
from prying eyes & faces:
study & apply themselves,
labour til they shrivel -
all to yield a waiting world
a masterpiece of drivel."

That's some quality poetry, without a doubt.

The Grinks & Co. MCs have to cross a bridge, but a grouchy-but-dutiful minotaur might find the huge amount of loot they're carrying. Whatever could they do to keep that from happening?

My girlfriend and I were thinking of holding a Halloween party where everyone takes turns reading scary stories out loud be candlelight. We probably won't do it on actual Halloween, but there's no reason not to have a spooky party any time of year.

I walk a constant line between fearing I don't write enough and feeling that I should do whatever I enjoy at the moment. I'm afraid that if I make writing into an obligation, it will stop being fun.

When I was 6, my dad put stars on the ceiling of my room to make me feel insignificant

It becomes a big plot point! The duology's demigod villain reveals that her magic comes through him and chooses to take it away, giving Gallara an identity crisis. She eventually realizes that he was lying - it came from within her all along. A maybe-not-so-subtle metaphor for self-empowerment.

None of them so far. I do have ideas for other stories that will have more magically inclined MCs, but that's long-term thinking.

In Prophecies, Gallara has minor magic that she doesn't understand; in Seff's story, Drohim channels minor magic through the Many; and Laylee in Grinks & Co. is a newly trained forest mage. None of the other MCs know any magic at all.
