I will not back down.

Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power.

What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?

Badenoch: "While Britain was redefining what a woman is, China built five nuclear reactors."

A perfect summary of conservative idiocy. Glorifying authoritarian post-communism for its efficiency while vilifying democracy for seeking nuance and respect.

It is the Right who hate their own countries.

This morning I have written to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice @angelaconstance.bsky.social MSP to register our concern over plans by the Home Secretary to provide new protest policing powers to police forces in England and Wales and to ascertain if the CabSec intends to mirror this in Scots law.

No, it's not. It's all a lie. The blunt truth is across the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them.

Any ideas what may have happened in the interim?

Never before in American history has one state's military force been deployed in another state over its objection.

I say never because the Civil War involved states whose governments legally ceased to exist, their offices vacated by constructive resignation, with no legitimate governors to object.

You'll be able to use your existing account without any dependency on Bluesky. That's been the dream of the Bluesky team and everyone who's been paying attention to ATProto.

And if there's any who can do it, it's Rudy.

I think aligning CBS News' editorial line with what Trump wants was part of a quid pro quo for FCC approval of the Paramount/Skydance merger — there's no "mistake"!

We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops.

At this rate of decline, the Annual Maximum Arctic Sea Ice Volume (in April) will be as low as what the Annual Minimum (in September) was in 1980... by the early 2040s. Think 'bout that.

With profound sorrow and outrage that @msf.fr confirms the death of a colleague Abed El Hameed Qaradaya. Despite the care provided by the medical teams, he succumbed to his critical shrapnel injuries on 5 Oct, following the attack on 2 Oct, in which our colleague Omar Hayek was also killed.

Seems to be asserting that Constitution and Posse Comitatus law don't really exist at all in US now, any more than they did in Franco's Spain, and no force, not states, not federal judiciary, not Congress, can restrain president from working his will. Purest fascism.

Democracy depends on its citizens, especially those with a broader public platform, drawing a line – especially when its enemies have broad support. It is an obligation we must accept. Who are we to draw the line? We are citizens who demand to live in a democratic Republic.

A ton of attention over the years goes to plots comparing open to closed models.
The real trend that matters for AI impacts on society is the gap between closed frontier models and local consumer models.
Local models passing major milestones will have major repercussions.

Macron remarks are notable- some quotes: "We have been incredibly naive in entrusting our democratic space to social networks that are controlled either by large American entrepreneurs or large Chinese companies, whose interests are not at all the survival or proper functioning of our democracies."

Answers on a postcard. Farage - who is currently in line to be the next Prime Minister of the UK - won't explain this mounting ties to a hostile foreign power. We need more investigation and public inquiry before its too late 12/12
