Rachel Reeves pushes for EU youth migration scheme ahead of Budget The chancellor calls for an 'ambitious' deal as she looks to boost growth ahead of the 26 November Budget.

Finally.

"Rachel Reeves has pushed for an "ambitious" youth migration deal with the EU in a bid to improve the outlook of the public finances ahead of the autumn Budget."

Brexit has been a huge block on youth opportunity, mobility and economy. Time to break barriers.

This thread shows why I privately wonder if we should even dignify Farage’s latest vehicle with the name 'Reform UK'.

It's the Nigel Farage party – a continuation of the Nigel Farage party that has existed for two decades.

It's him, his lackeys, his policies.

And when he goes, it goes.

Apparently the Americans at the Ryder Cup are behaving appallingly. Not only abusing the European golfers but also their families. Americans rarely pit themselves against the rest of the world (the World Series is a joke) but they are the absolute worst losers. No idea of sportsmanship or fair play.

Reform UK's ex-Wales leader Nathan Gill admits pro-Russia bribery Nathan Gill admits eight charges of bribery while being a Member of the European Parliament.

Nathan Gill is no fringe politician.

He was the leader of the Reform Party and before that UKIP in Wales.

A Brexit Party MEP.

A friend and ally of Nigel Farage, who in 2016 called him:

"terrific," and "as honest as the day is long."

This is a MASSIVE story

On this one, Farage might actually be going too far for some of Reform's less diehard supporters. Even leaving aside the absurdly inflated claims of savings and the logistical nightmare it would create, the retrospective nature of the proposal goes against popular notions what is and isn't 'fair'.

A lot of sensible people get squeamish at labelling Nigel Farage “far-right”, but his policy of cancelling the legal status of tens of thousands of settled immigrants can not be politically described as anything else.

Reform are campaigning on a policy of cruelty & xenophobia.

Nigel Farage is, and always was, far right, from his schooldays. The squeamishness about calling him out is one of the reasons we’re in such a terrible state today.

Putin is an idiot. He may have succeeded in rising to the top of the Russian mafia and surving there as a despot, but beyond blanket bombing cities out of existence, he's an utter loser when it comes to military strategy. Russia can't beat Ukraine – so what chance would it have against NATO?

If you have a wondered, what you would have done during the rise of fascism in 1930s look at what you are doing or not doing now and you probably have the answer.

It is comforting to ignore it and focus on the minutiae of daily life until it is too late to react. Stop them.

Well the result of a year of Labour shifting right has proved disastrous as the polls confirm. You cannot ‘out’ Farage - Farage. In trying to do so Labour is haemorrhaging support to parties on the left. Something has to change and Toynbee is correct imo that labour has nothing to lose in the fight.

It is not too late, but it is the 11th hour. We must do all we can and get involved in the preservation of British democracy before the far right take it away.

If you want to know what you would have done during the rise of the Nazis in the 1930s Look at what you are doing now.

From now on, Labour has one mission only. It must focus on saving Britain from Farage | Polly Toynbee The hard right doesn’t speak for most voters. The progressive cause is not yet lost, but there is an urgent need for energy, purpose and clarity, says Guardian columnist Polly Toynbee

I think this article by @pollytoynbee should be shared widely. All decent people should now rally to one cause - to defeat Reform. Labour should refocus.

This is not a time for apathy. Decent democratic people who distrust the far right must be mobilised before it is too late. If you want to know how you would have behaved in Germany in the 1930s simply look at what you are doing or not doing now. We must wake up.. ends
