we say this guy chases polls or the Baileys or whatever, but the reality is that he’s just misaligned with Democrats. the polling is clear that this is not what Democrats want.

Right now, Democrats have the power to defund and abolish ICE. We should do it. This is about right and wrong—and the murder we are seeing on the streets is just plain wrong. Anyone who supports funding DHS and ICE is supporting the murder of Americans. We can stop this.

Trademark Democratic negotiating:
1. start at the absolute bottom
2. cave to most R demands
3. send a (fundraising) text saying how horrible the deal was.

I think this is what drives this for many on the left: these ppl who are always wrong and always realize it too late face no professional consequences...they keep their consultant positions/leadership positions/media positions. They're also the first to talk about "turning the page" or "moving on"

That's a good point that I think also speaks to the age issue...the Olds look to establishment figures while youth & less engaged look to online figures they think they can trust. I think Harris's campaign realized that to an extent when they were working to get influencers on their side.

There's definitely a strong belief that the young'uns don't really matter because they don't really vote (which is undoubtedly behind the dismissing). I'm generally optimistic and think that shaking up the machine...while leading to uncertainty...will help engage progressive groups to adapt.

Until recently, this was always viewed as foolhardy because it required relying on low-information and low-frequency voters to turn out. Now, though, I think there is an insurgency spirit and I bet Kat's hoping that Chicago is ready to jump on that trend.
