I say this as someone who has studied interior design of the 1800s, although it holds true in many other ways.

Trump is an idiot. Lincoln era bathrooms never had marble all over the walls. They had woodwork. Everywhere. Places we would never put woodwork. Never slabs of marble.

Today I indulged in writing for 8 hours. Which means 8 hours of intense hyperfocus at the keyboard. My body is not happy! Maybe it’s okay that I normally get only 4-5 hour blocks of writing on weekends. I think it’s better for my health.

Tiny prefers white mousies without tails. If it has a tail, he won’t play with it. As soon as I remove the tail, he’s happy.

Is it possible to have too many footnotes?

Two more days until the long weekend, which I plan to spend holed up in the past, writing an article about Connecticut history that will maybe get published next year.

Rocky doesn’t like his medicine, but it’s doing great things for his eye.

The document pertains to Tobias Pero, grandfather of Ebenezer D. Bassett, and includes information verifying his military service during the Revolutionary War.

I sent an email to the CT State Library last night asking for help locating a document referenced in a book published in 1973.

One of their Reference Librarians not only replied today, she sent me a gorgeous scan of the document! (Detail seen here)

Rocky had an urgent care vet visit today for his right eye. I believe the vet said he has Eosinophilic Keratitis—an inflammation that is causing a white buildup on the cornea. He’ll be getting ointment and drops for two weeks. Like he hasn’t been through enough already! At least he’s a good patient.

The weekend ended with me realizing I have to rework the whole thing, and also WHY did I forget so many footnotes, and OMG this is going to take forever!

So, anyway, this is what I’ll be obsessing over every night this week when I should be relaxing. 🙄

The weekend started with me thinking I could easily and quickly prep an article for a different publication after the project I wrote it for was canceled.

I am completely exhausted and ready to go back to bed, but apparently I still have to run errands. 😫

When an author catches you looking at her book in the campus store, of course you have to buy a copy and ask her to sign it. ☺️

I’m not sure, but I think there might be a cat under the blanket.

With everything that’s going on, I’m surprised no one is talking about McCarthyism as a relevant and important precedent.
