Picked up the Crow Country demo, realized it was tank controls, immediately shut it down. I know everyone's all wet for PS1 revival but we can leave that shit in the past.

That shirt is fantastic.

It's a hideous habit and I keep a tight lid on it but anytime someone is self-deprecating to fish for compliments I just want to agree with them.

Also, in the chorus it feels like she's setting up a rhyme with a long o sound ("don't", "slow"), but then just doesn't rhyme it and goes for "heart". But I keep expecting "bandaids over a broken hole".

I was skeptical so I listened and I'm not buying it. But I do enjoy her singing the word "justification" as "just defecation". Bold artistic choice.

This is obviously just my opinion, and its because the game didn't satisfy my particular tastes and hopes. But Silent Hill is made for me, and this sadly wasn't.

Not to mention the rural 60s setting means we did not get any interesting "dungeons". A simple 80s apartment building offers so much more mazelike complexity than any structure available to the level designers. All we got was one simple two story school. Yawn!

Japan's millenia-long history and mythology makes that impossible. The whole country has been haunted by ghosts and monsters for forever. It's not mundane, so its not surprising that any of the game's events happen. It's its own brand of horror, which is great in its own right, but not what I wanted

The horror of wandering into a town that looks like any other in America, but its unique circumstances and the hubris of its people, just as far back as your great-grandmother's age, have opened the gates to something unthinkable. It's the horror behind the mundane.

And while the setting was beautiful, and I'm glad the Japanese team got to show off the quiet, dilapidated spookiness of rural 60s Japan, I think it detracted from what I feel is the core of what makes SH work.

The story in SHF is shallow, even with the reveal of the "hidden" story. Her friends like her, but they secretly hate her because of their anxieties and insecurities! Groundbreaking.
