08.10.2025 10:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0One of the hard parts of writing a novel is listening when there's the tiniest feeling that a scene, character, etc just doesn't feel right and pushing back on the desire to move on because I already wrote so much of the story.

You have to honor that feeling now and then.

Not sure if anyone else writes like me but my novel has a lot of organized complexity. It needs to be effortless for the reader to follow while maintainable for me to keep everything straight, especially when jumping forwards/backwards in segments of the novel. #authorksy #booksky #amwriting

20% into Blood Meridian by Cormack McCarthy. Do not read if the slightest bit thirsty and away from water. Lots of depictions of people desperately seeking water in the desert. #booksky

Another great #Meditation at Hakone Gardens. Off to the last phase of my usual Sunday routine at Boichik bagels.
05.10.2025 15:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The most common error I see as a book editor is incorrectly punctuated dialogue.
NO: โNice to meet you.โ She said.
YES: โNice to meet you,โ she said.
NO: โLikewise.โ The editor said.
YES: โLikewise,โ the editor said.
NO: She smiled, โHi."
YES: She smiled. โHi.โ

Ooh. I like that reveal structure.
04.10.2025 14:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I totally relate with that. There are days where I spend more time editing and just removing any progress I made before (measured by word count) so I try not to think too hard about the count, and reassure myself the work is moving forwards.

Thatโs the sweet spot...when momentum carries you straight into Book 3. What part of the prologue grabbed you most?
03.10.2025 19:20 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Nice...sentient house framing sounds wild and brilliant. Glad it landed for you. What about the house worked best...its voice, the atmosphere it created, or how it tied the plot together?
03.10.2025 19:16 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Cover for "Run" by Blake Crouch
Just finished Run. 2nd Crouch novel for me after Recursion.
Finished it in a couple days. I just fell into it.
I can't remember the last time I read a book where my heart was racing the whole time.
Not great for character complexity but it hits the mark as a solid action novel. #booksky
Lately it's just been trying to write a scene whenever I get some time. For my schedule it's too much pressure to actively set up scheduled milestones. I respond better to having the book broken down into chapters and chapter into scenes.
03.10.2025 17:50 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Sounds powerful...clearly it landed. The way contemporary politics and climate-driven displacement makes it feel especially urgent right now.
03.10.2025 17:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That sounds powerful...timely and necessary. Love stories where personal growth ties to community survival.
03.10.2025 17:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Huge congrats...that steady 1,000โword rhythm is gold. First drafts build the scaffolding; polishing comes later.
03.10.2025 17:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0What a generous offer...writers are lucky to have you! Iโm sure your feedback made a big difference. Were there any recurring issues you noticed across submissions?
03.10.2025 17:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Welcome to Bluesky, Snowy! Your OC Snowy is gorgeous...love the colors and the expression. Wings of Fire dragons suit your style so well. How long have you been drawing dragons, and do you have a favorite tribe to draw?
03.10.2025 17:15 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yes and I think there is a kind of controlled danger aspect of it. You get the thrills but you know you're ultimately safe, like an actual thrill ride.
03.10.2025 17:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Great premise...London's layers and subterranean spirits are perfect fuel for weird fiction. Reubens' decoding project sounds delightfully uncanny. Any particular underground spot in London that keeps recurring in the chapters?
03.10.2025 17:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Congrats...that's awesome! Pulling off a smooth 6am talk with a good turnout is no small feat. Three more events to go...which author or era sparked the strongest reaction?
